Two Fits, a silver one right by the southernmost entrance to the show, and a red one on a turntable. Both were accessible, and both were EX CVTs.

The rep told me that manuals should start appearing mid-May. The manuals are made in the Philippines and production is gearing up .

Just to be clear, the manual transmission assemblies are made in the Phillippines. All the US fits are assembled in Celaya, Mexico. The CVTs assemblies will be made in a new manufacturing plant next to the Celaya, Mexican assembly plant starting later this year.

Thanks for the info.

OK, so the trannies come from the Phillipines. Didn't we know that already?

Yes, but only the trannies with sticks

The rep told me the CVT was from Indonesia, but he could have been wrong.

He is probably correct. Right now, the CVTs have to be sourced from somewhere and it is very conceivable that they are presently coming from the transmission plant in Indonesia. The new CVT plant, that is being built next to the car assembly plant in Celaya Mexico, is not finished yet.

Curious now how accurate that rep is on the mid-May. Dang really need the dealership here to start getting some and information on ordering/purchasing these.

It's even worse to have a 6spd with the same final ration on the 6th as on the 5th 'cause you've got more weight there in motion in the tranny Personnaly a 4spd with a lower 4th than the current 5th would be awesome

I too thought about replacing my 2009 honda fit with the 2015 version but after seeing it and sitting in one yesterday, my answer is leaning towards no.

I think the GE8 looks better especially with the JDM tails. I did like the sunroof, leather option on the new one. There is no top glove compartment, interior materials felt cheap, especially in the trunk along the sides where that material could be pushed in and dented with your finger. It was not a solid material at all.

I may wait till it comes out at my local dealership and give it a test drive and see if its worth it to "upgrade" to the MY15 version.

And that's a huge consideration for us. A few years back, we drove the 2009 Fit to the VW dealership to test drive a Golf TDI, shopping for a new car for my parents. We pulled the two cars side by side and it was obvious how much less space efficient the Golf was. But the new 2015 7th gen VW Golf gains the same 8% in cargo volume that the new 2015 3rd gen Honda Fit loses. The Golf still doesn't offer flat folding rear seats and flexible cargo area, like Honda's "tall" mode. But it's enough of an increase that it's worth us taking another look.

Who knows? By the time the new GTi with performance package arrives here, there may be more information about a performance RS version of the Fit for our shores. A turbo engine, taller gears, and some better seats might change our minds. Thankfully, we're not in a huge hurry.
