any opinions?

hi guys, i have a chance to buy a sight unseen 2015 yellow lx cvt fit, here is where it gets iffy. its over 700 miles away from me and the dealer disclosed it had minor prior repaired hail damage. it wasn't repainted according to the dealer. now would you guys buy this without being able to visually inspect it? also i have never seen the yellow in person, i have seen lots of pictures. they are willing to meet me to make this deal so i don't have to drive all the way there. but, they would like me to pay $400 and have my car with a full tank of gas when the exchange takes place. they also want msrp for the fit. i am assuming the deal would be done by faxing-maybe sign something at the exchange. am i that desperate to even consider this to just get a yellow fit? i have 2 dealers in my area with black lx's-and one with a dark grey. i've driven the ex and liked it but don't need all of the extras on the ex model. its not like these are flying off dealers lots now-the one a mile away has 2 that nobody wants. i just don't want to do something crazy just to get a vehicle, its a car for goodness sake. i think honda does this on purpose to have this illusion that they are so hard to get. but, i don't want to be stuck with a color i don't like forever either. what would you guys do?

No way would I agree to a car with ANY damage for full MSRP. That is me personally, but without inspecting it, you may buy and find it has the top crushed in for all you know.

Although we all know dealers and salesmen never lie :-P

I would run from that car. You should never pay MSRP, let alone pay MSRP for a previously damaged car.

I would wait- in a few months the yellows will be at dealers closer to you....or if you cannot-- negotiate down a couple thousand bucks

Your patience will pay off with the perfect car. I say wait. Not a good deal at all.

I would wait. There might be a good reason that they do the not have a buyer already.

This is crazy. Buying a damaged car located 700 miles from your home, $400 over MSRP, and you asked advise? Only for the color? And you never saw the color in person?

If you want to throw the money out the window, you are much better giving it to charity.
Pay the dealer what they deserve, no more, no less.

Go and drink a glass of cold water, and keep looking for your dreaming car.

Good luck my friend!

Just saying....

I would not buy this car. But I would like to know the name of the dealership that made the offer.

Is the $400.00 considered a dealer Doc fee? I had a car with hail damage, and it cost State Farm several thousand dollars to have it fixed. It looks as good as new, so only I know it was repaired. If you want the yellow bad enough, I would get the VIN number and run a report on it, before I would consider the deal. I would not want the Carfax report to reflect hail damage, as that would impact the value of the car when you went to trade it someday. My hail damage was not reflected on my Carfax, so it has no impact on me. It sounds like they are taking your current car in as a trade, sight unseen (which is also strange). Either way, if you take the deal, your are doing them a favor.

Hutchinson, KS VIN: 3HGGK5H58FM713208

2015 Honda Fit LX - $17,115

There are more, but they are in HI., AZ, or ME.

Unless they are willing to take several thou off the mSrp, run away! They really want to see you jump through those hoops, don't they? The perfect car will show up in time, and nearer to you as well. Be Strong!

kansas

yep thats the one in hutchinson kansas. i did take a pass on it, emailed the dealer yesterday and haven't heard a word since. the $400 was supposedly to pay half of the cost to meet me instead of me driving all of the way there. i decided not to take the chance, one will show up around chicago sometime. if not, maybe i'll see a color i like and buy it instead. so thanks for your opinions, some were nicer than others, but we are who we are i guess.

Not sure if it was me, but sorry if I was not nice. I have children, and I tend to exaggerate to make my point clear.

This is a series car. Eventually, they are going to be lots of yellow Fits. You will find one.

I think you took the right decision.
