In regards to "proving" my position. Honestly, i couldnt care less whether or not you believe me.

If you ever came into my store and paid with a pc, i would be filling out form 8300. Thats the bottom line.
A personal check is not the same as a bank check or draft. I found this info via google.

Post 114 in this thread explains that a pc is not a requirement to file with the irs a cash payment, so why are you filling out a form that you don't need? Are you sending the form to the irs? That then takes up irs time to process paperwork that is not required.

Bottom line, this is why I would never purchase a car from you. The fact I purchased a Honda Fit with a personal check, tells me I used the correct dealer. No regrets here, and no Federal IRS Form 8300, subjecting me to an unnecessary review by the IRS (something not many customers would welcome).

I'm trying to figure out what all the controversy is about. So what if a dealer reports a transaction that technically isn't reportable because some training video told him to do so?

Unless you happen to be a Walter White or Nancy Botwin it isn't going to make a difference in your life. The IRS already knows about every bank transaction you make and a dealer re-reporting a single $20K transaction isn't going to raise an eyebrow. It's your money to spend.

OTOH, I really object to dealership's attempts to run credit reports and initiate financing paperwork on every warm body that comes through the door. I had one Honda dealer in Palmdale, CA who wanted to xerox my driver's license before he would even unlock a car for me in his own showroom! That's a major reason that I've been a happy Scion driver for the last few years rather than driving the CRV that had my interest at the time.

I'm rather amazed at the information that dealers blithely ask for and a lot of customers give them without a second thought.

It's a shame nothing is said in the OP about the Finance Office, or the Proctology Package.

Hi Riziaar,

If you have any questions you would like me to research with my finance department, feel free to ask.

While I don't have the answers to everything, I'm more than happy to help find answers to any questions any FitFreak members have.

Reread what i wrote in regards to sales training in nys, filing form 8300, & pc's.

It is required for any cash transactions over 9,999.99. This includes pc's

It is not logical that a state has a law that requires you to file a federal form*to a federal agency when clearly the federal agency does not require such action. What you and your state are doing is wasting tax payer money time via the its having to process an unrequired form.
