Finally! Blue EX M/T
Finally! Blue EX M/T
It finally happened yesterday; I found the exact car I wanted about an hour and a half away from where I live I could not be happier with my purchase. THIS FORUM was a fantastic source of information when I was considering the Fit and I want to thank EVERYONE that contributes. I felt like I could teach the salesman about this car after stalking on here for a month. I think this is a great community and I look forward to sticking around for the next 5-10 years.
I don't want to write a whole other review, but obviously we have all been reading about some issues here and there and I wanted to offer another experience and perspective:
My visors seem solid. Jostled them this way and that during the test drive and nothing has even hinted at falling off. Maybe it's just my seating posture, but it also blocks the side window just fine for me.
The paint was flawless. I looked over every inch in the bright sun before I even got in it. I didn't see any scratches/dents/swirls or anything like that. There was a bit of adhesive from the shipping film and they took care of that in the detailing when I bought it. Also, my doors were aligned evenly. No jutting out on any of them.
The weather stripping was attached firmly on all doors.
The seat belt bracket in the back does APPEAR to be backwards, and I guess somebody at honda confirmed that it was, but I sat there and put both the center and passenger seat belt on, and they don't interfere with each other when they are both buckled. Maybe it is wrong, but it hardly seems like a safety issue.
Engine noise: I drive almost 90% highway and reading about noise was giving me angina. I almost laughed out loud when I took it on the highway. I was cruising at 80mph with the music off and it is NOT THAT BAD at all (ya buncha whiners haha). It's not a Lexus, but you could do a lot worse. I found it to be a pretty pleasant little purr. If the music is on, forget it, it's a non-issue. My caveat to this statement though: I was driving a V6 Mustang for years (up until yesterday) and that thing was a lot louder, so maybe I just don't know a quiet car.
So far so good on LaneWatch. No surprise back up camera for me (yet? will update if it happens).
A/C is cold. Like cold cold. I live in Florida and with the fan on 2, the car cools down nicely/after just a few minutes (outside temp was 88 according to the gauge). I had to actually adjust the thermostat because the left side vent was making my hand too cold on the wheel.
What else was there? Oh yeah! No bubbles in my windshield like somebody reported. Seems clear as crystal.
Armrest. Again, maybe it's just my seating posture, but my elbow just finds the armrest and doesn't complain. My dad was in the passenger seat and he is 6'1". I kept asking how it felt to him and he didn't know why I was asking. I said "well it's a little low, no?" It was only than he thought about it and "guessed so." On that note, I asked if he was getting uncomfortable with the "footrest" in the foot well. He said he was fine for the whole hour and half back from the dealer.
CVT vs. Manual? Freaking pick one and don't look back. I love the Manual (I've driven them plenty but this is the first one I've owned myself). I drove two CVT Fits and they are just different. I didn't hate it, I just felt like in this little go-kart, shifting around would be a blast and it is. You will be happy with the car no matter which you choose. Like I said, don't fear the revs or the noise if your thinking of a manual. It's a ton of fun.
Sound system is pretty dang good! I heard a little white noise over the bluetooth streaming pandora, but it was old Bill Withers songs and I think they are recorded that way (it was Lean on Me btw, listen to it anywhere and there is some noise in the track).
That's all I can think of right now. In summary: F' what you heard, this thing is incredibly awesome. Especially for >$20k. If you're considering it, DO IT! You will not be disappointed.
On that note, I paid full MSRP $18,225 on the car, but got them to eat the $500 dealer fee. The other fees were state mandated (tire waste, blah, and blah). The only fee that may have been dealer BS was $50 dollars to the DMV for electronic filing. I feel I got HOOKED UP on my trade too: 2002 V6 Mustang with 88k on the odo and two accidents on record. I also had a cracked front bumper and some clear coat spotting on the roof and trunk. They gave me $3,200 for it. All told, I will probably finance about $10k and pay the remainder in cash.
The computer said 38.4mpg on the way to work, 90% highway, A/C on.
If anybody has any specific questions, shoot. I'll do my best to answer.
P.S. The blue is the only way to go
