Butt Ugly

Still waiting for the PBP EX to arrive. Sigh

That huge chrome on the pack of the car just below the window has to go!
How hard will it be to get that off. I will replace it with a painted one or will
paint the chrome one. Please, a little help from my FIT friends.

LX model has no chrome on the front nor the back. So if you have to get the EX, then just order the pieces for the LX model, or save money and paint them. Not sure how to take them off but I'm guessing they are fastened with clips that will break if you don't know how to properly remove them. I'm sure the dealer will know how to do it. Make friends with a mechanic from the dealer

That's black. A couple of us got the LX assy and swapped it with our Ex. You just undo two bolts on each side and pull it out.

Then to take out the plugs, u can use a needle nose pliers to pinch the tip of the plug and they will come off. The LX assy already comes with its own plastic clips, but surprisingly are different from the chrome assy on the Ex and above.

That looks sweet on the black fit! Nice upgrade. If you get some dark tints, you're practically driving the Bat Mobile.

I read above that the clips are different. Did you have to buy different clips, or do the come with the LX trim piece?

The LX black trim has plastic clips (they're green from what i remember). You just pop the LX trim onto the holes in the hatch and that's it. Put the wiper blade back on and BAM!

The EX chrome trim has a different style clip. The clips attach to another "clip" that goes into the holes in the hatch. To remove those "clips" from the hatch, use the needle nose plier to squeeze the clip and they should slide right out. I think when you see it you'll know what I mean.

Actually, a lot of the clips on this car are easy to remove. Either squeeze, poke, push in and twist, or pull.

Dammit, why can't you all live in the Bay Area? I want to learn how to squeeze, poke, push in and twist, and pull out parts of my car so that I can make it look just right!

Looks great! And I agree, I also don't like the chrome trim piece on the front or back.

You learn how to squeeze, pike, push in and twist, and pull out during clinical rotations! J/k. Well, I used to live in the bay area for a few years, but moved back down here in SoCal.

I'm amused by the folks who buy high-end Fits and then want the base level trim. Used to be that people would buy the cheap car and then bling it up with the high level trim! I remember adding the JDM "Bluebird" and "SSS" badges for my 510 back in the day! They were worth 20HP and a second in the quarter-mile!

Haven't had quite that kind of experience in my clinical rotations yet, but maybe this year! (Fairly certain my patients are happy I haven't though...)

In my case I am making the car the way I wanted it to come to the factory. It lets me personslize it to assure no one else has the exact same car I do.
Plus it keeps me from having to much time to get in trouble... Idle hands and all that...

I think the truth is a lot of people didn't want the chrome trim. Its tacky on a Fit. Most people that got the top trims are getting it for the function. You get a lot of bang for the buck, considering the Ex-L gets u leather seats, heated seats, defrost side mirrors, turn signal indicators, leather steering wheel, leather arm rest console, and leather shift knob - all of which would've cost a bit more time and money to install at home.

Ditto that. A car is a canvas, both in the choice of what we drive, as well as in how we customize/accessorize (or not) it.

That's a pic of my '71 VW Bus - owned it for eight years, was my DD for about five of those. Got pulled over more times than any other vehicle I ever owned, but never got a ticket.
