WTF USDM Honda

This is the Fit (Jazz) that the European market will be getting, and now I'm pissed at Honda.

It's nothing new that America gets the weak watered down version. It happens with every car. Move if you don't like it.

It's a lot easier, and cheaper, NOT to move and devote your efforts instead to complaining.

Seriously, though, I don't think moving to Europe is generally the best way to resolve these kinds of problems...

Shark fin antenna, led head lights, a different spoiler. Aside from the head lights, I'm happy with the USDM Fit.

We tend to get the crap engines though, you win some and you loose some.

It will also be significantly more expensive in Europe as well.

You can thank US regulations for that…

In Europe the Fit is considered to be a family car. In the US it is an entry level car for twentysomethings. They want the US thirtysomethings to buy a much more expensive car for their family so they have to leave things off to differentiate the perceived value.

Or, rather than move, wait for the upcoming HR-V.....it will also have the "shark fin" antenna!

Sharkfin antenna <$100
Projector retrofit +- $1000
Your choice of wheels $??
U.S. Gets the 1.5l engine vs the stated 1.3l More hp/torque so that's a win for us.
Don't see what the big deal is....

The styling of the USDM is what I mostly have a problem with. The European spec Jazz at least gets the RS trim seen in Japan ( side skirts, matching rear bumper, better spoiler). The Euro spec also doesn't have that tacky chrome strip on the hatch, they get it black. The new Fit has some interesting features, but it strait up looks like a car even my Grandmother wouldn't like, because it's dull.

You can blame crash safety standards in the US for the bumpers. Side skirts and spoiler are subjective. As for the rear trim if it really bothers you get the LX trim which is black and problem resolved. Remember Honda isn't just styling the car to suit you. That's what the aftermarket is for.

... except for newer ones and "inter-country" highways, roads in Europe aren't as nice as ours, streets are smaller and narrower. We generally have nice wide streets and highways even in the burbs.

It's more practical to have a smaller car.

To me, It ressembles the GE version a bit more than the USDM

I can think of a lot of reasons my Grandmother would not drive a Fit, and appearance is not even on the list. Of course, she comes from the Lincoln generation (Old, not new Lincoln).

uhhhhh this forum is all about making your car yours. so if you're pissed about the black strip, the "better" wing and the side skirts. swap em. on my 08 fit i didn't like the tails i bought not one but two pairs of jdm ones ( real ones too) i didn't like the wing so i bought a spoon wing. i didn't like the front end so i got the jdm front end... does it cost extra money? sure. do i care NO cuz my car doesn't look like every other fit.

don't be mad HAVE FUN AND MOD!

I agree with the OP on this one.....Look at the Base GE8 and the Sport version...high difference....

now the 2015 fit sport model doesnt really add much value over the base version....If I had to get this car (and I wont ) I'd go base MT to save as much money as possible and add everything as a mod....I'd estimate it would be a grand total of $22k to get it where I would be happy....at at that point I might be better off spending a few extra grand to get a Mazda 3 or at least a used civic SI....
