My view on the GK Fits.

I finally had time to check out the fits in person and ill have to say im disappointed in the overall quality. I was initially interested in it but id have to say, there were too many cons over pros for me to trade my GE for it.

First thing i notice off the bat is how ugly the paint finish is. Its like a Maaco special that they forgot to color sand or apply more clear coat. It was all wavy and really nasty orange peel. As a matter of fact it almost appeared like a enamel paint.

Secondly, whats the point of the arm rest? You'd have to be 4ft tall person to use them, or sit with a gansta lean or have super long arms and short torso.

Thirdly, the foot well is tiny, on the manual model i sat in the foot rest is wedged between my shoe and inner tub by the seat, did the foot well area get that small on the GK? My feet aren't big but the foot area is definitely smaller then my GE. I drive with my left foot basically almost wedged under the seat and knee leaning on the door panel on long drives so it bugs me that the foot well has shrank.

Fourth, the switch gear feels cheap, the climate control knobs almost felt like they forgot to grease them, it had a very ugly plastic on plastic dragging feel.

Fifth, the seats aren't comfortable to me and they feel hard, i am one of the few that actually like the GE seats, maybe these seats are design anatomically for Japanese people like myself. The carpet also very cheap looking too, like a piece of cardboard with velour spray on it, yea i know the GE carpet is cheap too but at least its actually like a carpet of some kind. lol

I agree with the center armrest deal. No idea what went through the designer's minds.

Bad paint job? Mine and several here have stated it's perfect. Honda did have problems with early production in Mexico before they finally sent over a crew of QC to whip them into shape.

The bad paint was actually the first thing i noticed, and it was a black car so it was VERY noticeable. There was a orchid pearl white EX-L parked next to it and it was less noticeable but still not good by any means, i dont know the if this was early or late production but if it tells you anything, it was equipped with Bridgestone Turanza EL400 tires as i read somewhere later ones had Firestone FR710s.

I also miss having the 2nd glove compartment and storage space underneath the back seat.

I own an Aegian Blue EX. It was delivered to me with no swirls/cc scratches because I requested DON'T TOUCH THE PAINT. Washed, clayed it, detailed with a PC using a paint cleanser and a final polish. Will seal it next week. Paint is impeccable except for some orange peel. For a $19K car I can't complain.

My Fit was built in Aug and had Firestone FR710s installed. So yeah it's possible you're looking at the early production run before Honda put a stop to that.

I also remember cramped foot area when I drove the GK.
Did the OP drive one? That's the biggest reason to not get it. It drives a lot more like a 1992 ford aerostar van, with 192,500 city miles.
