Christening
Woke up to five inches of snow on and around the Fit this morning.
Cried all the way to work--new car plowing through one to two inches of high-salt slush for ten miles. The rust war begins.

*sigh* We haven't had more than a couple of dustings yet, but it will be here soon enough. My '00 New Beetle had very little rust after almost 13 years in the Middle West rust belt. I ran it through the undercarriage wash every chance I could each winter, which seemed to help. The only thing that rusted out were the welds in the exhaust system! (c:

Snow Handling Observations????
What are your observations about how the FIT handled the snow? are you running special snow tires or the all-season, stock tires? I've yet to drive my LX 6mt in snow and may just use my truck if Black Betty doesn't handle snow well. We get our fair share of snow here in Massachusetts ... not looking forward to the snow OR the salt!

The Fit handled the snow and ice just fine on the stock Firestone tires. No ABS action, no traction control engaging, and no VSC intervening, but I'm a pretty careful driver. I'm sure Nokian, et al, are no doubt far better, but I've never used more than all-seasons on cars in the 25+ years I've been here.

Fit as-, "Snow" is that white stuff you see on top of our mountains in the winter.
Not to be confused with the white stuff on top of our mountains in summer which is called "Smoke."
Honestly, folks, the weather here in SoCal isn't that great. It was cloudy yesterday and temps went down to 48F. It's cold and clear today and the temps probably won't get over 70. All those people you see in shirtsleeves at the Rose Parade are just real estate propaganda to deceive people into leaving their Midwest and northeast paradises. Don't be fooled, stay put!
