We have the Honda Remote Start system in our 2014 Odyssey. Neither myself or the wife are impressed and if we had to do it over again we would have went with an aftermarket solution. I am currently researching for our new Fit and am leaning towards this package at Best Buy:

I work with frequency’s, there is no remote key fob that can transmit that far due to the frequency’s they work off of. And that’s not anything you can change or upgrade. You will have to spend some money and go with one of the smart phone alarm systems with remote start to start the car from the distance that you want to. Honda and the aftermarket remote key fobs all operate off of the same frequencies so there is no difference in the transmit distances.

I have the Honda one in my 09 Accord and my wife has an aftermarket one installed by the dealer in her 13 Odyssey. I chose to get an aftermarket one for our Fit because the nice thing about the aftermarket one is you can get in the car, put the key in and turn it, and then drive off. With my Honda one, I have to shut off the car with the remote before I can even unlock the doors. I don't know if this has changed with the newer ones used in the '15.

Maybe I can chime in here, I installed remote starters for the past 8 years ( new job recently) There are current remote start options for both key and Push to start models. I personally like the use and functionality of Directed products but compustar is just as good. You will need to have a separate remote for your system unless you do a smart start system. That being said on top of the remote start system you will need bypass module for the cars. www.directtechs.com ( bypass available for Fit LX) Flashlogic - Home ( Fits with PTS keys)

Any questions relating to remote starts feel free to ask, I will answer as soon as I can. If anybody wants to try it themselves ( dont recommend unless your confident with your wiring skills) I'd be happy help you at throughout the way just PM me.

If you want to by something and have a question on products just shoot it my way.

If you are looking to get one and are looked in NJ or willing to come to NJ I would be happy to install it for you as well as address all parts that are needed for the install.

I have the clifford 5906X with the Directed Smart Start. The remote works from pretty far and from my phone I can be anywhere and it'll start the car right up. One of the better mods done to the car.

I've had (have) Clifford alarms on all my cars. You can't go wrong with them.

Am I reading that correctly? 250 installed? That's pretty good, I think I'll add that to my wishlist for upgrades.

It has nothing to do with frequencies. It has to do with the power and antenna constraints within a key fob.

The 300-500 Mhz spectrum is also used by mobile radio services that transmit for miles but you cannot do that on a button battery with an antenna an inch long.

Viper, Compustar, Titan, etc. There are a lot of good aftermarket remote start/alarm systems out there, just have to do your research and shop around for cost of install.

Personally, I dislike the oem Honda remote starter because it's bulky and you need to push a couple buttons just to start your vehicle. Plus it's expensive.

I have the Viper 5901 in my GD, and it's a 2-way starter/security system with the 5000ft range. Also consider that if you're transmitting from inside a building or a place with a lot of walls, the range minimizes. If you're concerned about not knowing what's happening to your vehicle after remote start or even the current status of your car, get a 2-way system.

And I'm pretty sure most of the places now can install systems in vehicles equipped with push starts.

Best Buy carries the Viper brand and they do offer the remote start.

Something like this is pretty cool:

Viper Remote Start System with SmartStart VSS4000 - Best Buy

There are some gotchas. Looks like this one requires a service to use. Least there are options available to you.
