Recent MPG Issue
Also, modern serpintine belt systems mean that using the A/C doesn't have the fuel economy penalty that there used to be. I doubt I'd even notice with a car such as the Fit.
I notice a maybe 1.5 mpg hit on mpg in TN summers with AC constantly on compared to spring/fall when I don't use it.
Last two tanks I had the defrost on out of ignorance, and I went from 35-36mpg to 32-33. Since reading this thread and turning it off, I'm back up to 36. Big enough difference that I'm going to pull the wire mentioned earlier, pushing the AC button when needed doesn't sound like that much of an inconvenience.
