city mileage

Most of my driving is short trips which is the worse for mileage. My estimate would be out of all my driving, 90/95% of it is done on city streets with stop and go. My mileage is always showing about 35 mpg average with such driving.

This depends entirely upon the distance of the trip. My commute to work is 1 mile. So I spend 3 minutes letting the engine warm up, and then 4 minutes driving. On these trips I get about 15-19mpg in my EX CVT. If I drive any distance at all in city conditions, milage quickly shoots up to over 30 assuming I'm not driving like a pissed-off teenager. That being said I still get about 25mpg driving like an absolute jerk.

I'll echo that the shorter the trip, the lower the mileage. I'm also almost all city, and I've seen short trips at 8 and 9 mpg. Go a little distance, however, and it shoots up pretty quick. Go long and it can get amazing...personal best of 50.2 mpg on a trip at about 40-45 mph solid for an hour.

Mine is a MT and I drive with the flow, no lead foot. Getting 35 mpg for my type of driving is fantastic!

OP, this is what I'm getting if not a little less with very little driving, short trips, city only, with at least a 4 minute warm up for the cooler weather. Its normal for those of use that don't have to drive longer to work/play. It also depends on how many lights one has to wait for and how long the lights stay red.

I drive in NY, long island, queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan. I am lucky to get 35 mpg at all. There have been times it has taken me three hours to drive thirty miles.
With that said, the OP's mpg sounds too low, even for city driving. I'm averaging about 32 city.

If you're driving a new fit (GK) and are getting 25,then that is low....low enough to warrant taking it to the dealership...
I have a GE8 and during the 124k miles I currently have on it's odometer, I averaged between 24-28 mpg...
at the lowest when I was getting 24, it was due to spark plugs that had either loosened themselves or the last tech that worked on my car did not tighten them properly (also had strong fuel smells in my car during that time)
I've been between 27-30 now and I do alot of hard driving all over NJ and Brooklyn and Staten Island.

I got the first fill up doing some good city driving longer distance than normal and got around 28 miles per gallon. Now I drive short distances, long stop light, colder weather, and only a couple of miles driving per day, and I got 22 miles per gallon, so if you get 25 mph, that does not mean something is wrong.
Do some more driving, longer distances

Would be cool if Honda came out with a Fit Hybrid. Given how small the car already is not sure if they can squeeze in a pack of batteries without effecting cargo space. I've suffered that on my old 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid which is why I traded it in for the 2015 Fit. The seats doesn't even fold down because that is where they placed the batteries. :faceplam: Toyota got this part right.
