How to repair / connect Honda OEM External Temperature Probe and Wiring into loom
Hey guys- yes me again up here in arctic Canada LOL - remember my post where I mentioned us lucky Canucks find out that its only available on all CVT models, MT people are not given one..
Honda Canada are trying to tell me that the Manual Fits in Canada don't have the external temp probe and wiring and hence the temp display above the fuel gauge because they ONLY fit then to CVT's for some unknown BS reason.
So what I am trying to find out is there a Honda Part number for the associated parts and a fitting / repair guide if one goes wrong and needs repaired. They say there is NO way to fit them to our MT vehicles outside of the factory.
So does anyone have a way of finding a Honda workshop manual or a tech note relating to the Ext Temperature Sensor / wiring with part numbers maybe and how to attach one ??
Honda Canada really disappoints me with their lame and almost non existent response to my questions when I called them they referred me to the dealership who are being pretty amazing actually (you go Harley !!).
Thanks in advance from the freezing north !!

Ok, this is going back a ways. Actually a LONG ways... but it might be better than messing with the Fit wiring loom (especially if the wires aren't there!) and trying to chase down phantom part numbers.
The first gen Focus also did not include a thermometer. There was a thread on Focus Fanatics where somebody found a junkyard car where the (remote) thermometer was incorporated into the (inside) rear view mirror. They recovered the mirror and sensor and installed it on their Focus. At this point I have no idea what car they got the mirror from, but it may be worth investigating ;-)

Hi thanks for the reply. The temp probe is mounted behind the lower front grill to the right of the car (when looking at the license plate say). As its unlikely to find a wrecked 2015 cvt model I doubt if I will be able to find a donor car where I can rip the parts off and trace where it plugs into the loom. I am assuming that as its a OEM part it can be repaired and as such you would need to have the parts available and the technician training to plug a new one with cable back into the loom somewhere.
I doubt that the probe is unique to the Fit. However, even if you find it an plug it into the harness (assuming that there is a connector) then you are left with the problem of getting the car to recognize it and display the temp. In an ideal world the system would recognize that the sensor is present and enable the display, but I suspect that Honda doesn't want to make it that simple.
There's always this:

The second is kind of what I was thinking of. It's going to have it's own sensor. Ignore the one behind the bumper.

Maybe this sensor (#2)? It seems to be in about the place you described, but indicates that it is related to the A/C. Although they often put things in odd categories in the parts catalog. I guess that it could be used for both A/C and display, which would lead to the unfortunate case that your car might have it, but the gauge module is programmed to ignore it. Does yours have A/C? (I think some of the past ones didn't.)

BTW, does your Fit auto lock the doors when you reach 15km/h?
OK. After doing some more research is does seem that the sensor you are looking for is very likely the same one noneterry and I have highlighted, which is P/N 80525-T2F-A01. I found a Canadian parts catalog page for the same part for LX CVT for example, but this page does not list anything for the LX M/T. This seems to be true for the other trims except DX which doesn't have a CVT version. Thus, the sensor in question is very likely missing from your car. The P/N for the wiring harness in that part of the car for Canadian LX M/T is very similar to the P/N for the US LX M/T which has the sensor, so there might be a place to plug it in!
I didn't check the other trims besides LX, but it seems promising.

Thanks guys !!!
Let me try and answer everyone who posted individually:
(i) There will be NOT be a part listed for the MT on any trim becase Honda Canada have decided NOT to fit them to any MT model in Canada - have that as gospel now.
(ii) I just spoke to TorontoHonda parts (one of you posted the link above) and the sensor itself for the CVT LX model is P/N 80525-T2F-A01 and is reasonably priced at $53.34 but the wiring harness to connect that into P/N 32120-T5R-C00 is LIKE $500$USD or $638$CAD
(iii) Yes my car locks when I get above 15KPH or similar
So I think I have an answer, its too expensive for me to fit myself but WHY apart from money did they make a decision not to fit to the MT's in Canada ?? Honda - JUMP IN !!!
Thanks in advance for any replies.
