Where to put your cell phone?
I have a rather large cell phone and had been throwing it in the center tray, but that's a little kludgey. Since my phone has a QI charger and that's what I use home to charge it, I figured why not see if the QI charger will work in the car. So I velcroed it to the right side of the center console partially covering the right hand cup holder. Works like a champ... just set the phone on it and it's charging and it doesn't slide off in the curves. I ran google maps navigation with the screen on the whole time and was able to gain ground on my battery's charge.
If you look at the pic below, the front of the unit has a split in it... I set that over the right hand skinny part of the center console near the cup holder as a fork that straddles the side. The bottom of the charger has a rubber nonslip, and I peeled that off to put some heavy duty velcro on. That part sits right beside the shifter when in park. The best part is there's no cord... just pick it up and leave the car. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/pM...lBU=w1194-h799 I am NOT intending to advertise for anyone, but I gotta say, I have 4 of these qi chargers (wife, daughter, car, etc) and they work great for any phone since they have three coils and autoselect the best one. QI Charger that works well http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Ym4AAO...Mf/s-l1600.jpg |
Hmmmm.......that does look interesting. Does it work on any phone with a lithium battery, Android, iPhone?

Your phone has to be QI compatible. I have a Samsung S5 and bought a little paper thin QI receiver that snaps in between the back cover and the battery. My wife has an iphone and we put the qi receiver inside her lifeproof case. Droid phones have the qi receiver built in. YMMV. Usually the receivers cost $14 on ebay or amazon.
Here is a picture of a qi receiver... though not the one I bought. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...L._SL1500_.jpg Ohh and a word to the wise. Aparently there is a difference in the QI chargers... I bought one that looked like a hockey puck and once the phone got fully charged, it would beep every few minutes *all* night as the phone got 99% and the charger turned back on. The charger I showed in the first post does not do this... it beeps when you set the phone on it the first time and never again. Perfect for my night stand at home. |

I jump put it in the arm rest area. The iphone 6+ does not fit under the radio.

I just keep mine in my pocket since it is set up on the blue tooth

Other than for using HondaLink , where it must be connected, my iPhone pretty much stays in my bag due to the same thing - if it's connected by Bluetooth then why have it out? |

Right here, I can't charge it though. I put it behind the cupholder on the bottom in landscape to charge. |
iOttie
I mount my Samsung Note 2 above the center vents in my iOttie (from Amazon). https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6EC...p=docslist_api

I prefer my iPhone down low, so I played around with the stand and put it in the lower left cup holder. It works well so far. I added some packing foam to tighten the fit and it works so far. It stays in my pocket if I don't need to charge. I plugged the cable into the compartment USB. A flash drive stays in the console USB.
I didn't want it in the upper cup holder due to the vent blowing warm air at it, brightness of the screen in my peripheral sight and the possible sharp left turn I take and the window being open..... Whoops there goes my phone out the window... |

Be careful during winter, I put my iPhone 6 there once and with the vent there it overheated very quickly

I have an iPhone 6. I usually put in the charger in the 12 V connector in the center tray and connect my phone there using the Lightning cable provided by Apple.

I have the Koomis mount, too. In fact, when I use my iPhone 6 for navigation, that's why I mount the phone in my car. :)
|
Just came in to add that I too have the Koomis cd mount and it's the perfect placement-- especially when you need Nav. High enough that you can quickly check it without taking your eyes off the road for too long, but not so high as to impede your line of sight. Plus I like that it can be angled towards the driver or passenger.
