Pig in a Poke??
Pig in a Poke??

Am I the only Fit owner that not only bought his car sight unseen, but never actually even laid eyes on any Fit before he went to pick up his new car? I read a glowing review of the Fit written by Lloyd Kahn --- someone whose opinions I've valued over many decades. I ordered my 2015 Fit on the phone, paid cash when it arrived at the dealer, and have been thrilled with it for over a year now.
You are very brave or very trusting to buy a car from just a reviewer and sight unseen. I could not do that.
I've never heard of Lloyd Kahn, but looked him up on Google. He really has a great review of the Fit.
My New Honda Fit, Same article but has good comments.
How Much Can You Fit in a Fit?
Cool camper idea: I'd like to see this in a Fit
Overall an interesting read. Thanks. it is refreshing to read about Lloyd Kahn after thrashing through a lack of Android Auto for MY2016. I'm more Lloyd than Google.

Some people might consider you crazy. Me, I just read Consumer Reports, watched Youtube video reviews and just sat in one at a dealership. I watched Craigslist for a week and when one caught my eye I met with the owner and finally took a 15 minute test drive. I bought it. Some might consider me crazy, too. If loving my Fit is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I bought mine over the phone, and had it delivered. No test drive, sight unseen. I didn't even really pick a color, rather, I picked "anything but silver." That said, I am a gear head, and I knew what I was buying. A sort of reliable, sort of cheap car that I won't care about much for the next seven years. In my family, tradition dictates that your parents give you your first (very cheap) car. At that point, I will give it to my son, who will be getting his permit, and I be happy knowing that he has the most utilitarian, least exciting to drive car on the road. I want him to be able to cruise around in a car that I know was taken care of. Nothing about it will be a surprise. He will be able to fit his friends in it, and will be able to drive his sister to dance camp, or whatever, and it will be cheap for him. Small tires, small engine, easy to fill gas tank. Lots of room for camping trips. Safe, or at least a whole lot safer than my first car.
The fit is a giant step down for me, but I'm willing to tough it out for the next seven years to see the look on my son's face when I hand him his key, and tell him to back it out of the garage, for his first drive down to the beach with me.

i saw the GK when they were released in japan so i kinda knew what to expect.
i did take a test drive on the one i bought though to make sure it ran properly.. but it was hot out and did not even think the power window would be broken. already repaired under warranty. such a stupid problem.

Well, you guys have me beat. I'd seen Fits on the road. I contacted the dealership about one they had (I gave them the stock #, just a shout out to cars.com here) and showed up one night after work to look at the trunk space. Knowing how many cubic feet it has and seeing a couple pics isn't the same as knowing "Yeah, I can put my dog back there."
So the salesman went back in, leaving me standing outside, alone, with the doors open and the engine running. I hadn't meant to take it for a test drive, but what the hell. One mile down the road, one mile back. Yep, it's a Honda, all right. I gave him the key back and told him I'd be in on Friday to sign papers.
My last car? I did better on that one: It was a new platform and I'd never seen one until I took my wife to a dealer's lot to show her one. I didn't see the car I was getting until I was at another dealer to sign the papers- and didn't take it off the lot until I was on my way home (I did hop in to move it 10 feet so they could pull another car out for a test drive).

Last November on a Saturday I was looking for a new car. Knew nothing about the Fit. Read an article online, did some more reading and then on Sunday test drive one and bought it on the spot. Passion Berry Pearl won me over.
I had an '09 Fit, and loved it. Found out about the GK mostly from this site. Waited a LONG time to see one at the dealer. Got a test drive in both the manual and the CVT, then ordered an EX MT in white. Dealer got it from another Honda dealer in Geneva, NY.
I guess you could say I bought mine "sight unseen".
