If you're looking for some badass tires go for the Yokohama AVID Ascend Radial Tire - 185/55R16!

I've been a fan of Yokohama tires for decades. My friend who bought my 2010 Fit Sport replaced the original tires at 25,000 miles. I suggested that he buy Yokohama YK580 tires and upgrade the size to 205/50/16 to get 20 mm. of extra width. They offer performance with high mileage. The diameter of this tire size is exactly the same as the 185/55/16 that came standard on the Fit. He got 60,000 on the first set of tires and is now on the second set. I'll need new tires on my 2015 Fit in another 5,000 miles, and the YK580 will be the tires that I choose.

I'm not entirely sure that I'm interested in having "badass" tires. Do they make the car behave badly or something?

I recently replaced the crappy OEM tires with Yokohama brand. I opt for one size larger for better ride. It fills in the hubs pretty well and still have plenty of clearance. I don't drive in the snow so it's not an issue for me.

The Yokohama tires I bought comes with 60K mile warranty so pretty hard to beat.

Oh I've been a fan of Yokohama for years and always great value.

I have an appointment to have the Yokohama Avid Ascend 185/60R15 tires installed. The OEM's are 185/60R15's. I should stick with the 60's, correct?

You could go lower, just have to go wider to keep diameter the same +/-

Yes, replace them with the original size.

Avid Ascends are not bad ass tires.

But they're fine. They last a long time if nothing else.

They want $515 for the Yokohama's, out the door. Sound about right?
That's for the Yokohama Avid Ascend 185/60R15.

That sounds extremely expensive to me.

So lets brake it down.

Tire Rack - $76/tire
Plus $19 to mount/balance - $95/tire
Plus $5 disposal fee - $100/tire
Plus $13/ea to ship from TR to you - $113/ea
Sales Tax at the local shop, lets assume $20, so $5/tire - $118/ea

We're already up to $472/total vs the $515 to just have it done & support a local business. That may also include an alignment, warranty of some sort, etc.

It isn't a bad deal if everything is included.

Alignment is not included, and I know I'm going to need one.
Maybe I should shop around?
Ever get tires from Wal-Mart? They can fix me up for $275 mounted and balanced. Some kind of Douglas something tire.

Figure out the model.

$275 mounted balanced is scary cheap. Don't cheap out on the most important safety component on your car.

I'm very curious. What all did you pay for your tires?

If u have a Costco membership you can try there also. Its either Michelin or Bridgestne tires. They have $70 off if u buy 4 tires. And if u are executive member, wait for their free installation ($60). Last time i bought Bridgestone all 4 tires for $320 out the door.

A earlier post asked whether we had a thread on 'best oil'. I'd appreciate if there were a voluntary expert on all such items: tires, oil, wipers, etc.
