GK Paint Color Names

I am having damage repaired on my Aegean Blue Metallic and they need to repaint. The insurance adjuster noted "NEW SPORTY BLUE METALlIC." These are not the same color!

I actually got sort of burned last year when I bought touch up paint from B and A Parts. They swore it matched the GK Aegean Blue, but when it came it was actually the New Sporty Blue and it sticks out like a sore thumb on the car.

I guess my question is, does anybody have any insight on Honda's color names? Can I just cross out the wrong color on my estimate and write in the real color, or will the body shop not be able to find "Aegean Blue?"

Honda calls it "Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic" in the parts catalog. Go figure. You could write the actual paint code, B-593M, but that's gonna get them to the same answer.

Paint *B593M*

I should add: regardless of what the adjuster wrote down the color as, it's the painter's problem to figure out what color it's supposed to be and then doing the best possible match. There is some technique and art involved here.

IME, metallics are very difficult to color match, as the mix of the metal flake and thickness of each coat is critical to getting just the right color. This is where the skill of the painter comes in.

Touch-up paint seldom matches exactly. The paint has a different formulation and application method so an exact match is impossible.

I really wish that the new Fit came in Taffeta White or Polar white. Much easier to match and more durable.

What does the sticker on your drivers door jamb say as far as the color goes?
