K&N Cabin Filter

I decided to get K&N cabin filters for both of our Fits. The paper ones cost $12 and up, and we'll need them forever. The K&N will last forever, at a price a little over $40. We are also using their air filters.

Cabin air filter sounds like a good idea....didn't know they made 'em ....I'll pass on their engine filters....to each his own, or something

Not to have a debate, but I have been using the K&N engine air filters for the last 125K miles on my 2009 Fit and haven't had any issues (and saved a few bucks). I don't think there is any performance improvement though.

4 vehicles with them, combined well over a million miles, all the engines made 280K miles plus..

I follow the directions carefully on cleaning, and I oil them to the directions. Let them sit overnight before I run the engine.

You may not want a Wet K&N in a MAF equipped car if the MAF is in the air cleaner...
Chance that an over oiled filter could fog the sensor in the MAF.

FWIW a sprint car I work on makes almost 20 more HP with a oiled K&N than a Foam filter..
Of course the thing is over 800HP burning methanol so ... may not be apples to apples..

Never used one on a car, but I've run a K&N filter on my Harley-Davidson for over 190,000 miles. Seems to work okay.

I friend recently asked me about MPG or performance gains with the K&N. I told him I use them because one will last for the life of the car, and they probably filter better. It would take science, equipment, and lots of time to establish a difference in performance.

I was not too happy when I found the foam almost completely disintegrated in an oiled K&N filter that I used in previously owned car. I won't use them for that application anymore.
