The most gas gas you put in your Fit ?

I was riding in my daughters new 2008 Fit when she stopped for gas and put in 10.29 gallons. ..I was thinking that we were really close to running out! It made me think of how much my largest fill up was on my 2015. I think it was 9.2 and I was a little worried! What was the most gas you put in your Fit?

Most I've put in was 8.9 gallons .....mostly drive shorter urban distances, not really worried about running out....the fuel light is a little overly cautious on the new ones, I'd say...heh

I can't speak to anything other than the 2008 model but they can hold more fuel than advertised. Nobody ever quite figured out why but it may have to do with the fuel tank location relative to the filler location and the convoluted path that doubtless lies between them.

8-9 gal is no problem for GEN1 Fits. 10 gal has been max for me on a 2011/2015.

10.171 according to my Fuelly logs, which have meticulously kept since I bought the car two years ago. I had been driving on zero bars for several days.

I have 2015 LX
I have never put more than 9 gallons ... never knew it could take in more. The gas pump always clicked full around 8 to 8.5 on any almost empty tank (that is one/two bars on fuel gauge), which i know might not always be true but surprised to know it can take in 10+ gallons! Was generally concerned about overfueling and leaks.

It's a 10.6 gallon tank and the fuel light comes on with about 2 gallons left.

According to my log book the most I've ever put in was 10.51 gallons with 2 miles left on the range indicator. I expect that the range indicator has a bit of leeway built in, but I'm not going to test that.

The long filler pipe makes the nozzle click off with a bit less than 2 gallons capacity left. It's a bit annoying to wait, but a little patience in filling yields an additional 70-80 miles range before having to refill.

I would seriously love a 20 gallon fuel tank in this car!

So if you can actually fill 10.5 gallons it means you can go 500 plus miles on 1 gas tank if you drive efficiently

I was totally disappointed this week when my screen said I had 9 miles left in the tank and the pump shut off at 8.850 gallons. That disappointment was offset by seeing the screen report I was getting 110.8 MPG as I was descending down a mountain.

I don't recall ever filling up with more than 8-8.5 gallons of gas.

Just did a road trip and my screen was at 199.9 avg mpg coming off some mountain in NM this week, but that number quickly dropped when I hit bottom and starting going up another one.

I had one tank take 10.718. I never fill past the auto shutoff for the pump. Must have been nearly dry, and filling into the filler tube...

I'm wondering if there is a charcoal filter of some kind that can be damaged if you overfill.. I would love a bigger tank too! I once had a 1969 Chevrolet camper special truck with 2 side tanks and it needed them. I bet if Honda offered a larger optional tank in our Fits, say 14 gallons, it would be a real popular options.

My son came home from work today and told me he put in 10.8....I think it's foolish to wait until the fuel gets that low. ..I would never do that.

By design, you can't overfill. There is expansion space built into the tank that can never be filled with gas. Look at a tank that is out of the car and you'll see the bulge on top.

Think about it. If you fill the tank with a really slow pump or via other means you will never get to "auto shut-off" until the fuel backs up into the tube.

Yesterday I had one bar showing when I went to get gas for the mower . I put in 3.91 in the 5 gallon tank and then filled the Fit. ..Total was 14.6 . It means that the Fit took over 10 gallons with 1 bar showing. I did fill past the first 2 auto shutoff clicks but still it took over 10 gallons with one bar. I will never quite trust the gage again! This morning my daughter called the wife saying she needed me to take some cash to her at the gas station she was empty and had forgotten her credit card. She found enough change to get back home to get the card. I think now I'll fill it every time it's even a little low because if I run out after fussing at Jen I will never hear the end of it.
