should i trade my Tacoma for a Fit???
I didn't say the Chrysler 200S was God's gift. I said it was a better car, albeit more expensive than the FIT. I guess it's too hard to understand that other manufactures make decent products?
Having "owned" a 200S for 13 months the number one consumer complaint is interior comfort. This is the downside of reading reviews and not really getting the whole story. I agree the rear seating comfort is pretty miserable and probably unbearable on long trips for anything other than maybe 9-13 year olds? Front seats and cabin arrangement is quite nice. The rear storage or lack there of is good for maybe a suitcase and a set of golf clubs. Never had the rear seats down, but I can't imagine it easy to actually put anything thicker than a 2X4" in it. I didn't really care, I wasn't trying to use it as a pickup truck plus it wasn't mine.
The 8.4" touchscreen makes all others seem like children's toys in comparison.
Do yourself a favor and go take some other vehicles regardless of the manufacture out for some test drives. I'm not saying buy something, just get a sample of what's out there. I think you'll be surprised at how good everything else is.
Well, I've been driving and owning many cars for over 60 years (Chevys[4], Plymouth, Pontiacs [4], VWs, Olds, Toyotas, Buick, Suzuki, and Hondas). The biggest lemon was a Chevy Laguna Estate Wagon. It ate transmissions. I'll repeat, I'm no fan boy. Take it or leave it. Your last response? Promises, promises.
Smells Trollish
Because I changed jobs and turned in my company car a Chrysler 200S that got 39mpg average. My other car gets about 20mpg and I only use it on weekends and is garaged from late October through March. Anyway I wanted something with similar gas mileage to the 200S and something that I wouldn't have a payment or one for very long. I was about $1-1.5K short on paying for the Fit outright and other than the Mitsubishi Mirrage everything else new was more expensive. I took it for a test drive and it didn't seem that bad. That's the difference between a 10 minute test drive and actually have to live with it. It's probably fine for what it is? I'm just not a subcompact owner even though I own one. I guess our spouses know us? When doing the paperwork she said "are you sure you want to buy this?" My response was that it will be fine I just need some crapbox to get me to work. If I could go back in time I'd take a. $5-6K loan and buy something nicer that would have got mid to high 30's for gas mileage since that was the range I was comfortable with for my driving needs. The other back in time option would have been to buy the Mirage since that was $12K out the door. Probably equally as miserable but cheaper. Another year or two if suffering and it will be my sons college car and hopefully out of my life forever. If not I'll trade it. All the fanboys keep Honda's resale value up
But you still offer no specifics as to why you don't like it other than it being a sub-compact, and newsflash,- that should of been evident even in a 10 minute test drive. That should of been evident walking up to it BEFORE the test drive.
You don't HAVE to like The Fit, and if it was indeed one of the early Mexico Builds, you wouldn't be the only one to experience problems with fit and finish.
But your own revelation of your attitude when buying The Fit seems to suggest you made a quick decision, that you always perceived as a compromise, despite warnings by your spouse, and now you want to blame the whole segment of sub-compact automobile, and The Fit specifically, for your own personal mistake?- That's on you, not the vehicle.
I think it's funny that you proclaim to hate the Fit so much, but your solution is passing it on to your son, whom you say also hates it.
If part of your reason for buying it, was that you could afford to buy it outright, or close to outright, why suffer for two years and then give it to a family member?
Why not go trade it in right now? You might take a hit on depreciation, but as you say...us fanboys keep the value up, so it should be minimal. And if your personal standards are as low as Mitsubishi Mirage, you could probably break even or even keep money in your pocket.
But yeah, why bother to log into "Fit Freak" just to espouse your dislike for subcompacts and The Fit and then get insulted when- Yes, people who like Honda Fits, disagree with your unsupported dislike. If you buy a subcompact when you hate subcompacts? That really isn't Honda or The Fits fault.
That doesn't seem to me like legitimate criticism. It sounds to me like just trying to cause trouble because you bought something you NEVER really liked.
One of the two sources mentioned is JD Powers. They give awards to car manufacturers that pay for the awards. They may be a "leading source" of manufacturer-paid accolades, but their impartiality is questionable at best.
But I still think any opinion they might forward, more valid than 1 single individual hating on The Fit because "Sub-Compacts Suck".
Buyers Remorse.

The closest I've been to being a fan boy was my 1964 Pontiac GTO Tri-Power and my Civic Si. Fun cars for absolutely opposite reasons.

I have well documented my poor panel alignment on my Mexico built Fit that was hidden from the dealer with cheap add on weatherstrip on all the doors and around the wheel openings. If I would have seen it, I wouldn't have bought that car. I wanted the dealer to remove it, but the porters weren't comfortable with its' removal for fear of damaging the car or so I was told. I removed it with a heat gun a couple days later and discovered the problem. I don't think a 2017 is an early build?
I also get a imtereintent fuel smell that of course the dealer can't replicate
I have to take a stretch of 70 mph highway on my way to work. I can care less about the RPM of my manual transmission FIT at highway speeds. I know it's a complaint of many here, but I'm not going to pretend I know better than my the engineers who designed it. My complaint is it gets thrown around like a rag doll at those speeds when by trucks. Add a windy day and it's all over the road.
Lots of wind noise at 70mph in the cabin especially from the doors. Sounds like the window is opened a crack when in fact they're shut.
FWIW, I come to the forum most of the time for the For Sale ads. Bought two sets of wheels and another item and what I thought were very good prices. I also like the racing related threads since that a hobby of mine. I ignore all the wiper blade, gas milage, over inflated tire, CEL codes, and most other prosaic topic threads. Foolishly, I'll occasionally click on other threads such as this one thinking I might help someone from making the same mistake that I did. Unfortunately then I encounter bitter, divorced old men who get personal about my son.
[QUOTE=Rob H;1376046] bitter, divorced old men who get personal about my son. /QUOTE]
Divorced, yup happily. Old uh huh, and hope to get older. Bitter, never. Bitter seems to be your attitude over YOUR decision to buy a 2015 Fit. BTW, the Chrysler 200 is on its last production legs.

My inclusion of your son in the conversation only includes what YOU brought to the conversation about him.
You were the one that said he "also hates the Fit". Then later suggested you couldn't wait to give your son this same vehicle he evidently hates.
I added nothing to this reality other than the opinion that it was a strange thing for YOU to do.
At least now, you are providing some specifics about what you don't like and problems you evidently have had.
I'm confused however that now you say your 2015 Mexico Built Honda Fit is suddenly a 2017 build? Typo? Production Time Travel?
Yep...panel alignment issues have been reported with the early Mexico Plant built Honda Fits.
Yep a light fuel efficient vehicle is likely to be buffeted on the highway more than a heavier vehicle.
Radio Locking Up? Not a widely reported problem. But if it's happening? It's happening. Bummer.
Wind and Road Noise at High Speed? I actually agree, The Fit is not the best in this regard. Mine is quiet enough that I take it a "White Noise" and I can just ignore it. But as a bitter divorced old man, maybe my hearing is just getting bad.
Intermittent Fuel Smell? I have no idea. That would bother me, if it was routinely happening.
I would say, in an urban environment, if you have your air intake on "Fresh Air", what you might be smelling is the vehicles or world around you. I've pulled up behind diesels before, with all my windows rolled up, and suddenly started to smell diesel exhaust.
But that is a potentially very disturbing problem. One I wouldn't ignore.
I'm not saying you aren't having the problems you now reveal you are having.
But if it's paid off?
Why not put yourself out of your own misery and go make a different purchase?
If you have the financial means? I also believe life is too short to drive something you hate.
I could debate forever whether you should like The Fit. But the bottom line is you don't. And really.....that's OK. People can get a "Lemon" build with just about any vehicle on the market. Try as they might, automobile production is not a perfect science.
However? I think your experience and attitude about The Fit NOT representative of the majority. The Fit is pretty much heralded as being a class leader...YES..in the subcompact segment. And the majority reviews by magazines, automobile programs, and owners,- LIKE the Fit.
As far as "Bitter Divorced Old Men"...whose trying to take a personal shot now?

Most of them got driven between a couple hundred miles and a few thousand.
A number were Chrysler products. Many were great: I rented lots of the first generation Neons because they were a hoot. The DOHC 4-door in Wisconsin stands out as a favorite.
Of all those cars, the only ones that gave me trouble were the other Chryslers: CEL codes, alarms going off for no reason, a wheel falling off as we were returning it (!), but worst was the brand new Town and Country containing the valuables that shouldn't go in the moving van on our way to Florida. Died....stone dead...at the hotel on night one.
So I've been around the block, and I can honestly say I love this car more than any I've driven. Is it because it's mine after 35 years of renting? No doubt that's in the mix. But it's been entirely perfect, and we're looking forward to the 6,000 mile summer trip we'll be taking shortly, which will be our third big trip.
I mean seriously, people like or even love their cars, and you wonder why people find you obnoxious for coming on here and saying they're "horrible"?

My car has always been a 2017. Bought October of 16 around when I joined to forum. Said I wasn't going to respond to you anymore. This is the last time since you will now be added to my ignore list. 20 years on various forums and you'll be the 3rd.
Well, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has already been taken. Ok, LBOM won't work, neither will Society. Reckon Hillary will let us use Deplorables ?
I think I should reveal why I'm here. I lack both the skills and money to modify but I see ideas for low cost improvements. Also simple knowledge from the experiences of others.
Honda does not provide a manual with all the info many of us seek. We have to depend on each other. I have on this computer a detailed maintenance document on the Suzuki SX4. One could completely repair/rebuild an SX4 with its detailed parts lists and diagrams. It is probably in violation of copyright.
I don't want a comprehensive repair manual, but I sure would like a more detailed manual of features w/o *not available on all models. Good illustrations of locations of features would be a huge help.
