2015 fit
Anyone else have a starter issue? I have a 2015 fit ex with 60,000 miles and just about a week ago it isn't starting. It still will start after many attempts but I'm hearing a click noise. I got the battery checked and it was good. Frustrating 😡! Any input will be helpful

If you scroll down this subforum, you'll see other threads where the GK5 starter has died prematurely, and much earlier than yours - some within warranty, some outside.
Since yours is way out of warranty (36K), not much chance that Honda corporate will help in the repair or replacement, but it's worth a shot. Contact Honda corporate first and ask whether they will contribute anything toward repair if that's indeed what it is. If they say no, then probably best to get it repaired on your own outside a Honda dealer.
In one such case below, starter went at 46K, Honda corporate said maybe we'll help but we need a dealer diagnosis first, dealer charged $125 for a diagnostic fee (!) and then said yep, it's the starter, and then Honda reneged on any help toward repair. That's why I recommend you stay out of the dealer loop if Honda corporate says they won't help.

This kind of stuff is why I work on my own car. For something like this, the price of the parts might not be much more than just the diagnostic charge, which is kind of a ridiculous concept in itself- unless they were going to knock that off the bill should you go through them... which I doubt, from the sound of it.
If your battery tested good, and when the starter finally does catch, it cranks pretty strong, then I don't see what else it could be. I've had to replace starters on two other vehicles in the past, and it was the same kind of symptoms.

Mine failed while under warranty. The dealer said it was a dead spot on the commutator. If the motor stopped with the "dead" spot under one of the brushes, the motor wouldn't turn. Eventually, after enough tries, the motor would get "bumped" out of position enough to start.

There's another post in this section that had a dealer quoting $600 just for the part, and another dealer asking $300, and probably an hour or two of labor on top of that. Hope you got a decent deal on the part.

This is just sad for me.
Back in the earlier days of this forum there just weren't failures. Everyone was comparing JDM exotic pretty parts and reporting zero problems.
I'm so sorry to see these cars falling to the ranks they have. For what it's worth, my Dad's Kia didn't have issues.
We just bought a VW Golf for the wife because I saw no downside. Problems with that car seems to be equal, but at least you get a much better driving vehicle.
Our Japan build GD is not or sale!
