HKS Silent Hi Power axle back

Searched for this axle back and was surprised there were no hits.

This is not a fart can at all. It's actually pretty baritone for a little 4 cylinder.

At idle inside the car, you cannot hear it at all. Cruising around town as long as it's 2,000 rpm or less, you can barely hear it at all.

Interstate around 3,000 you hear it. Around 3,500 cruise there's a nice tone, but not enough to turn up the radio. Even being an old guy, my volume is usually around 10-11. Do not have to turn up.

Get on the throttle, or better yet, high rpm downshifts, and it's awesome!

I normally do a lazy shift around 2,500 and you can just hear it. Really have to be on the throttle, under load and over 3,000 before it makes any real noise at all.

Literally took longer to put the car on jack stands than to swap out the mufflers. It's that simple.

Very happy.

It does hang down quite a bit lower than stock. But they put a gusset on it. My assumption is this is a skid plate so it don't hang up on anything..

Don't stick out too obnoxious..

Idle and wide open throttle vids..

You must not have searched right 'cause there are plenty of threads. I installed mine on 9/2015 and before then I had researched to make sure it was compatible with the USDM bumper. I had found several members who had it with pictures showing clearance. On my WOP I have to clay the bumper near the exhaust to clean out the carbon build up, but other than that I like the exhaust very much.

Just tried this. Amazed at how early you have to get off the throttle to prevent the ooops rev... old dog, new tricks is really the problem..

For me, it just feels wrong.. been driving a stick for 40+ years.. I'll let her ooops!!

Ordered one from Lightning Motorsports, December 21, 2017. $ 288 plus change with free shipping checked their reviews (lightning motorsports) and it all seem legit. I know it was the holidays so i was not expecting fast shipping. I was able to get to talk with them over the phone about my order Dec. 26. 2017 (up until this time there was no tracking no.) The guy over the phone promised me one day shipping from pennsylvania, I live in Queens, NY. Fast forward Jan. 2, 2018 and still no tracking no. from their website and all I get is an answering machine from their phone line. So I called Am Ex and filed a dispute. AmEx refunded the money to my account the next day. Lesson of the story DO NOT BUY from Lightning Motorsports.

Got mine from Kamispeed. Put about 1200 miles on it so far. It's really changed the attitude and the fun of driving the tiny car. Has also knocked out quite a bit of MPG as I like stretching out gears

Got mine from Kami as well. They were easy to deal with and fast shipping. No regrets.

Anyone using one with a CVT? I added a HPS intake to my wifes 15 CVT and it sounds so terrible with the awful growning noise now louder. Hoping the HKS muffler will cover up some of that CVT noise that makes the car sound like a blender.

Yes I have it with the CVT and it does sound nicer with the HKS. Don't think you're going to be able to do much about the CVT drone though. I guess I've got used to it overtime.

Ya man its terrible. Mainly due to the cars cheap design and lack of sound deadener. Don't get me wrong though, we bought the car due to the size/MPG/price. I still think it cannot be beat at $18k for an EX In terms of size/space/fuel eco/tech.

If you have a CVT don't get an open intake! It makes that groan louder! and not in a good way. Every car ive ever driven has had an open intake because I enjoy the sound! just not this one (have one on a my 12 k24 accord and it sounds really good)

I had this exhaust on for a day then my wife told me to take it off

I gambled with youtube but without paddles on the cvt I find it's all drone. It looks beautiful but as of right now its just an ornament.

Guess it's all subjective. The HKS Silent HI-POWER is the quietest aftermarket exhaust I've ever had in a car. Maybe it's because it's the first axle back. Or maybe this is the smaller car engine I've ever owned. Combination of both lol?

Anyways my wife didn't mind the HKS when I installed it. Sounds good with my ram air intake (imo). Guess she got used to driving my 4Runner with the Magnaflow.

Not sure what difference paddle shifts would make either?
