compass
I have never really desired a compass in my vehicle.
But isn't it all just up to you?
If you want a compass, I think you can embrace everything from after market rear view mirrors with built in compasses. To a trip to Wally World and a $3.99 compass that sticks on your dashboard.
Just kind of depends on what you want to spend. What you are really looking to add.

I was out 'sploring some country roads yesterday and would have greatly benefited by knowing which way I was heading. The Fit has a thermometer, I wish it had a compass too. I was hoping someone has already found the perfect compass that fits somewhere on the Fit console, mirror or windshield with a minimum of wires or brackets. I can live with a simple magnetic compass or even an electronic one.

I usually drive pretty urban area's.
If I get lost, I'm resolved to the reality that I'm going to be taken by the Zombies or Mutants living in the hills.
So a compass is not something I want.
However, I'm not against those that want one.
Just for fun, I checked out Amazon, and there are LOTS available.
Unfortunately you might have to be discriminating as many had pretty low reviews.
But if it's a compass you want?
Well...there are plenty available.
I just was wondering what "level" of investment and technology you were looking to obtain.

Your handy has one, no? If not, a GPS? In your setup, set your map to point north. Then, you have an idea the direction you are traveling. Or, learn the bee dance to let the other bees the direction north. Or, on a clear night, you can see the big dipper points to the north star.

If you want a stand alone compass, I would go digital so you can also see it at night.
I've used a few smaller liquid filled ones. It's tricky to find a spot that will not affect the magnetic field. The trick is to have some light available to see it at night.
In the end, I've had enough of trying to play with ambient light and a cheap compass, so I got an auto dimming rear view mirror with compass.

nice. yah, my STI has the auto-dim, compass, homelink too, but my R has those new bezel-less autodimming and no homelink. kinda sucks considering i park my R inside.
i use the regular ol garage door opener in the R but mounted it inside the cubby so can't see it from the outside. i could make a hardwired switch for it, but then one can't see it anyway so left it alone.

I keep a liquid filled compass in my console but there are always stray magnetic fields in any vehicle. Makes it difficult to use and unreliable.
This is a good question. I too would like to have a compass in my Fit.
I've sidelined my compass purchase after testing some potential mounting locations with my handheld compass. I was surprised to learn how many things in the car dramatically affect the compass' accuracy. A GPS solution, in this day and age, makes most sense.
i know this sounds basic, but i dont think gps is a compass-solution - unless you are verifiably-moving... namely, gps will just give current-position readings... compass requires a direction-vector...
that means that you will only know which way you are going - if you are going... if you stop to decide which-way, the gps wont know which-way-is-north...
just my 2cents... h.
eta - adding a map-layout to a gps, of course, gives a person something visual (streets) to help identify a direction...
