To See or NOT To See?

I like my little '16 LX, although it took a while to get used to a light car.
Yesterday I was driving on a wintry day and saw a car appear right in front of me....but it was a rearview mirror image!
A few minutes later a car did cut across in front but it was momentarilly hidden by...the rearview mirror.
I'm tall and find that the mirror is in the wrong place: couldn't they add a good rear camera and place it on the dash, just above where the vent now resides?
That is the question.

The rear view mirror has two pivot points, one at the base of the mirror and one at the stalk where it meets the windshield. Can you try to adjust it so it's out of the way but still usable?

In a small car, the driver is fairly close to the mirror and it blocks more than its share. Think of a cone of vision: as the blockage/mirror is closer, it blocks more.

I got a rear view camera mirror on mine as an example: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...ml#post1391095

But I've seen the ones where they come with a LCD screen, I think it's mainly for RVs. (

Keep in mind though, having a rear view mirror may be a "safety inspection" requirement in your state.

Like 2 rismo says it has 2 pivot points. Im 6 foot 4, the mirror was too low especially with a broadway on it, solution? Look under mirror, grab mirror and push it up as high as the FIRST joint will allow, then ajust the second joint for your view. Helped me alot. I have a 400mm broadway on there and no issue at all now.

400mm! Dang that's a huge mirror lol. I thought that dash cam mirror was big, but it's only around 12-13". Driver's sunvisor does block a bit of the view if I have it halfway down, but if I push it forward all the way it's not visible. Still clears the mirror though.

I'm only 5'8" and the mirror was in my way when I bought the car. Adjusting it by the pivot closest to the windshield solved the problem.

I also made the 2-pivot adjustments, after owning the car for two years! Thanks, guys.
