Hello all,

I'm a new proud owner of a manual 2017 Fit LX. I wasn't really looking for a car, but I got a crazy good deal because it had been on the lot for a long time--apparently manual transmission sub-compact cars are a tough sell nowadays. Anywho's... I have owned the car for about two months now and I'm noticing an issue. When I start the car or even after I've driven it for a while and let it idle, it has a mildly rough idle. It isn't consistent. It will shudder every ten seconds or so. It isn't a huge issue, but it concerns me. I've never bought a new car before and I'm wondering if there is a break in period where these problems will go away. It's under warranty, but I didn't know if this was something that was covered. Any help, info, assistance or thoughts would be appreciated.

No. Real problems don't heal themselves.Real problems are covered, read your warranty information.

You can take it to the dealer and ask if what you noticed is normal or not too.

 

How many miles did this car have on it when you purchased it? Assuming just factory/test drive miles, it could have had fuel sitting in it for a year or more, which could very well lead to some fueling issues. You can try running something like Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner through it..

 

I'm approaching 45k miles on my 2017 MT LX. From time to time the idle is rough if the AC is on. When it's cold, it's rough- but not "breaky". After a good drive however it seems to have finished it's warm up cycles and runs smoothly.

When you say it shudders, do the RPMs drop as well? Or is it simply vibration? It is a noisly little engine. It likes chatter away.
