Oil filter change every second OCI?
Oil filter change every second OCI?
Considering the DI nature of these engines (possible fuel dilution issues), does anyone skip changing the oil filter when doing more frequent OCI's?
On some reputable sites, many claim that the oil filter only needs to be changed every other OCI.
I'm considering doing this mostly because of the hassle in jacking up the car, removing the splash shield, etc.
On my previous car(IS350), Toyota actually recommended changing the filter every other change.
FWIW, I use a fluid extractor for my OCI's (fed thru the dipstick tube).
I've been using this tool for the past 5-7 years with great success on many cars including my 07 Focus, 88 BMW, 06 Lexus IS350
If I'm only replacing the filter every other change, it'll be a huge relief for me (much less hassle crawling underneath!)

I have always changed both- because why not? And there's oil in the filter too.
But I'm coming up on one year since the last change and I'm still at 80% oil life (barely driving due to the pandemic) so I'm not sure if I'll change the filter too.
