Online Service Manual

Have any of you tried the on line service manual? You can pay by the day, month, year, etc. I was wondering if it's worth using.

This is new - just found it.
2015 Honda Fit Auto Repair Manual - ChiltonDIY

I wasn't able to find the other online service manual, though.

I know it will never happen, but the government should make replacement key/key fobs available at a reasonable price, not $350. Every car sold in this country should have a factory service manual available.

If this is available online, then there must be an actual hardcopy?

Yes, but no one is selling it. There hasn't been a Fit manual since 2013. They gave up on making money from the sale of manuals and figured that more people would have to rely on their service departments. I've had a manual for every car I've owned since 1962.

That's not an official Honda service manual. That's an outside party, Chilton's version of a service manual. And yes, they used to publish hard copies of their manuals and it looks like they think they can make more money by instead selling online access to it.

How about taking a screenshot of every single page? I don't know what the legal ramification is but, it's worth a try.

I LIKE PDF manuals. You can print out just the pages you need for the garage, and throw away the smudgy paper after the job is complete.

+++++++++

Warning to the limited-time Honda subscribers: If you try to download everything in one session, I've heard that they 'throttle' you to prevent that. GRRR

Lucky you. Our garage is out-of-range of our WiFi.

I often wear nitrile or mechanic's gloves and they don't work with touch-screens. (Yeah, I know, I COULD buy gloves that do...)

Paper CAN be used to dry up drips and spills....

Thank goodness Chiltons at least came out an electronic service manual on the 3RD Gen Fit. Honda has hurt every buyer by not publishing a hard copy service manual for the car. They do not even offer a PDF manual for a price, They charge a extra high price for their information and monitor you to insure your do not just pull up pages to screen copy. Chiltons may not offer a hard copy like they used to but at least 30 dollars a year for information access on the Fit is affordable. A good service manual was 150 to 300 dollars. I will probably buy a year of service If I need it. That 30 dollars is worth it not to have to carry it in for Honda service and their prices.

My work just switched from paper schedules to electronic- we had them printed out by month so you could tell by shift who was out on vacation, medical, training, etc. They decided to emphasize how paperless we are by taking away the printed pages, but then nobody could tell who was supposed to be where except by logging into a computer and then logging into the scheduling program.

The answer was to put up a big TV on the wall near where the papers were and have everything on rotating display, but the cost of the TV and mount would cover something like 1100 years of paper, and that's not counting however much the electricity to run the TV costs. Of course, the cost of toner and printer maintenance might bring it as far down as 900 years.

Sometimes paperless isn't the answer.

Thanks! I just kept at it, and at some point, I was able to logon. I was also able to print a few pages. I doubt I'll be rebuilding the engine, so I won't need all that. : )
