3rd Generation GK Specific Suspension & Brakes Sub-ForumThreads discussing suspension and brake related modifications for the 3rd generation Honda Fit (GK)
While installing my rear suspension, I noticed in the manual something our GK5's don't come with. A pair of "Rubber, Rear Damper Mounting" (PN = 52725-SAA-G01)
Referred to as "BUSH" in the following picture:
I pulled up rear suspension on both GE8 and GK5:
GE8
GK5
Has anyone ever discarded this piece:
And then, installed a pair of PN 52725-SAA-G01's in its place?
Please note, these coilovers are GE8 specific, which is technically not "intended" to install on GK5, but we all know too well .... it "fits" just fine
- see my post in your build thread. Quick answer is - you can't use that piece from the GK shock on the GE shock, as the rods are different lengths. On the GK the rod is longer above the shock body to accomodate the cylindrical bushing.
so is the correct way to toss the piece from the gk, and buy a pair of those "bush" pieces from a ge?
for those not subscribed to my thread:

If you put in the OE shocks without that piece, the shock will likely bottom out too quickly, without the urethane damper (inside) and the cylinder, which also acts as a lowering extension of the top mount point at the chassis. The total working length of the GE shocks is shorter, due to the lower-sitting chassis mount for the shock. They will work as-is in the GK, but you will have less effective droop of the axle. Also, you can't use the GK part on the GE shocks, as it would shorten working length of the GE shock on the GK chassis, which would induce some bad snap oversteer effects when the shock bottoms out too soon.
Hope this makes sense, it is hard to describe without photos. I learned all this by trying (and failing) to fit GK OE shocks on a GE, and put both cars up on jackstands and started measuring things.

Yes, assuming the shocks you are using have the same total length as OE GE8 shocks, or at least very close. Placing the shocks, uncompressed, side-by-side, you'll see the difference. GK should be a couple inches longer from the top of the rod to the bottom of the shock body (somewhere around here I posted the measurements when I tried to do the swap on a GE8). The body of the shock is similar size, but the GK rod is longer.
Hi ! I just installed my coilovers yesterday and I came across the exact same problem. GK5 strut doesn't have any reusable bushing my coilvovers instructions has. I was wondering how'd you go by this ? As of right now I just did washer, spacer, washer just to get the car back on the ground.
