Full size spare?

2+ inches of snow all over the road. It’s dark out, still snowing. Major secondary road.

Suddenly the TPMS comes on.

Have to go 2 miles before I can safely stop.

Front Passenger side completely flat.

Fill it with air. Drive 1 mile….went from 35 psi to 20….and I have 30 miles to go to get home.

Put the donut spare on…..but because it’s FWD, have to move the back tire to the front, donut on the back….in the snow/slush/puddles.

Then slowly drive home (because of the slick/nasty roads).

So….anyone able to fit a full size spare in the back? Cut some of the styrofoam that holds the jack? Different holder available?

The tire could be plugged (mechanic found a nail hole), but they were near the end of their service life anyway, but I’ll have 1 reasonable tire (4 years old/30% life left) that I could use as a spare when I buy the two new ones for the front. Figure I’d ask here to see if there’s a relatively convenient way to put a full size spare in the hole instead of the donut.

2016. 16” Alloy wheels. 185/55R16. Everything is back in place, so I can’t measure. But it looked deep enough if there was an alternative to the styrofoam.

Thanks!

You can for sure keep a full size spare in the rear. But it won't fit in the factory location and with the factory cover they give you.

That is clearly why they have a space saver there.

I just keep mine in a big garbage bag in the hatch, on top of the donut spare. It's rare that I fill the hatch, and this way if I'm on a long trip and get a flat I still have another spare. Because it's not easy to find a tire shop that stocks tires that fit on the Fit. With my prior Fit I think I put the full-size spare into the well. It fit horizontally but stuck up vertically somewhat.
