Curb rash:((

I was making a right turn and didn't notice a 3 inch lift on the concrete (Michigan is the worst). I got a very bad curb rash. Now instead of getting the same rim, I was considering replacing all four rims. Any suggestion's for 17" hfp rims with tanabe shocks? (preferably a grey color) I don't know which ones will fit.

Also, I couldn't fit the part number for the EX rims

Find a good wheel shop that works on curb rash and let them take a look at it. Sometimes they can do amazing things with what looks like a hopeless case.

This is one reason that I always put tires with a bit of sidewall on my cars. When the rim extends beyond the tire it is pretty much inevitable that it will get scraped. Being careful only takes you so far.

I had the same issue with a previous car that had very low profile tires and alloy wheels that hung out there, exposed. I agree with George, I would get a quote from a shop for the repair first just to see what it would cost (it will definintely be much less expensive than new wheels). That is, unless you are looking for an excuse to upgrade.

But....is it truly cost effective? I don't have shops around here that fix curb rash

Google is your friend:

As far as effectiveness, get an estimate and compare it to the cost of a new factory wheel, a wheel from a wrecker, or a set of new wheels.

Personally, I prefer steel wheels with tires that are wide enough so the rim never touches the curb. Those silly rubber band tires and protruding rim edges look great on SEMA cars, but the real world demands something less flashy and more useful.

Yep, wheel repair is worth it. Had it done and amazing results. Just find someone with enough experience.

Also next time you get tires make sure you get some that have the rim/lip protector.

Good advice. I always choose my tires very carefully. A lot of them have some sort of rim protection and some better than others. I had Toyo Proxes 4 at one time and rubbed the tires against concrete borders a few times with zero damage to my aftermarket wheels. It doesn't look quite as good as tires that don't have it because they have a thick rubber lip all around the wheel but you will love them when they save your expensive setup a few times.
