I also have had the problem since the first day. Only the passenger side. In a mist, medium rain, or downpour I get the same "loud" annoying noise. I don't use my wipers now until the last possible moment. Had the window and wipers cleaned by the dealer. Took it in on a rainy day and man, was it making a awful noise. After the "fix" the noise returned 20 meters down the road from the Dealer. Maybe try reversing the blade. Keep you informed.

 

I just snapped a PIX of the Passenger side wiper. I''ll upload it once I get home this evening.

The passenger side wiper was the one making noise for me also. If you look at your passenger-side wiper, you can clearly see a bunch words in braille all along one of the sides.

To test my theory, I reversed the wiper so the words would rub against the glass while coming up and sure enough it made a noise. I used a garden hose which had different spraying effects that I used during the test by the way!



At lease on my Fit, the solution is to have the words on the wiper rub on the way down! Hope this info helps...

My passenger wiper chatters also, and only when traveling upwards. The dealer replaced the blade (I was told the inserts were non-changable) but that didn't help. I think the problem is caused by the wiper arm pressing too strongly against the windshield. If this is correct, then the factory needs to releive the tension on the wiper arm prior to installation. My dealer couldn't replicate the problem and was reluctant to replace the blade but finally agreed to give it a try.

 

I was misting yesterday and i had the same problem. The passenger wiper was crazy loud even with music blaring. I will have to fix this too.

 

Ok so I reversed the assenger side blade and the chatter is gone for now. Thanks for the tip!

 

I'm stumped, how does one take the rubber blade out of the housing, the housing seems to snap out of the arm as mormal, and the clip over the middle is easily taken off, I just cant figure out how to get the rubber blade out to turn it the other way, to get rid of the noise mine makes also.

 

The housing/arm is rubber and flexible and the blade slides out by bending the tip. You'll see a flat-thin-metal bar. Slide that out along with the rubber blade.

 

I measured mine and my passenger side is 16" but the driver side is 23 3/4
which means that 24 & 16 should fit?
Did anyone know that the PIAA makes a carbon fiber style?
Anyone know how much they cost? My nearest dealer is 25 miles away!

 

Just popping in to confirm that I flipped my passenger side wiper blade insert over and it stopped the wiper from skipping.

 

I too flipped the wiper blade over and problem solved after 3 months of noise in the rain. The dealer cleaned my blades, cleaned my window, and was about to remove and replace everything when I told him about the fix for the fit which I read on this forum. He said I was crazy and that it would never work. I left him scratching his head in the parking lot on a "quiet" rainy day. Thanks for the tip!!

Looks like the "flip" is the magic thing!! I did mine and it is now silent! WOO HOO!!!

 

Flipped mine around but waiting for a good (drizzly) day to test it out -- shouldn't have to wait long for a bit of rain in Seattle :-)

If this fix really looks good, perhaps one of the moderators can sticky this over in the Do It Yourself section so that others can take advantage of it.

We had our first rain today in the Bay Area and yes, the wipers made an obnoxious rubbing/hoping noise whether clearing light mist or heavier rain. Reversing the blades sounds like the least time consuming and cheapest solution...so it would be nice to know if it worked for at least 2 folks. Thanks.

reversing the right side blade, worked for me.

 

try rain x too..reduces friction. plus really helps in heavy rains on the interstate.

 

Gonna try reversing the driver's blade today... it's been chattering all day since it has been misting here off and on. Thanks for the tip, hope it works!

It did work for me!! I reversed my driver's side blade (had the writing on the top side) and it doesn't skip! Even when it's completely dry!

 

I can't believe how easy this "fix" is. Damn blades were driving me crazy!
