wheel bearing/abs wheel speed sensor problem

wheel bearing/abs wheel speed sensor problem

Hello,

I hope you are all well. I wanted to pick everyone's brain about something. I just changed my driver's side wheel bearing on my 2008 honda fit base, manual transmission. I also pressed on a new hub. I purchased the parts through mac auto parts off ebay. Obviously typed in my cars info to check and make sure the fit was correct. I also double checked all my work. The magnet side of the bearing was pressed in correctly and is towards the abs sensor. Also, I was very careful not to damage the abs sensor when removing and re-installing it. I spun the knuckle and everything felt smooth. No binding or grinding. I cranked the car up and drove it. Everything felt great going around the block, but then the abs sensor light came on. Does anyone have any suggestions on what my next step should be? I would appreciate any advice if any of you have run into this situation before. Thank you all!

My guess
Ether the bearing has no magnet or it has been installed with magnet ring on opposite side

Sorry doc, negative on both accounts. Magnet was verified and I pressed it in the correct way.

Maybe there is a clearance issue.

You can check the sensor output and go from there.

Abs fault

What code has come up for the abs? It’s easy to assume that the fault is from the bearing change when in fact it might not be that wheel. Also if you can get hold of a reader that will read live data from the wheels when you drive you will see exactly what is or is not working.

Abs

You could try to see if the abs is actually sending a signal, this works on the 2004 jazz . It may not work on yours if they have changed the abs design. Disconnect the abs connector in the engine bay. Place 2 straightened paper clips gently in the connector attach a multi meter set to ac and 2 volt
range. Jack car up, spin the wheel and you should see the display flicker I take that as a working sensor. The signal will only be momentarily as you will not be able to get enough speed by hand turning. You can try on the opposite sensor first as you know that one is working to get an idea what to look for. Here in the uk getting the sensor out without damage is a lucky event.
