Resetting Engine Oil Life Display

I recently bought a 2009 FIT. In anticipation of a long road trip I changed the oil, even though the Engine Oil Life Display indicated only 20%. I am now having trouble resetting the display indicator.

The owner's manual says to hold the reset button for ~10 seconds, at which time the oil life display will start blinking. It does...

The manual then says to hold the reset button for another 5 seconds, which will cause the display to reset. In my case, it does not. If I hold it long enough, maybe 20 seconds, the display quits blinking and reverts to the original non-blinking display of 20%.

Can anyone suggest what I need to do to reset the Engine Oil Life Display?

Thanks

I'm not sure but you might have to release it and then push it in again and hold it. Try that, see if it works. If I remember right the manual wasn't clear but there was some way to make it work.

You are exactly right

After the blinking has commenced, you have to release, then immediately re-press the button for another 5 seconds.

Muchas Gracias !

PS
Thanks to you I'm loading a Hanukkah app into my FIT.
