Exclamation 2007-13 Fit Driveshaft recall in salt-belt states

Announced today:
https://www.nbcnews.com/business/con...blems-n1251496

My 2008 Sport (originally sold and still residing in IL) pulls up the recall on the Honda site, so it's a real thing.

Received mail notice of recall

I just got a recall notice on my 07 GD3 regarding the drive shaft and possible damage related to salted roads.

NHSTA 20V-770.

It says the parts are not available and I am to await further notice.

I got about 70k worth of hard city miles on the little dude. No major issues other than a transmission solenoid and coil packs. Still runs and drives great.

I have 2009 Honda Fit. It is a little late for me. In 2018, the right shaft broke on the road. Six months later, the left shaft broke, too. I have replaced both. Luckily, both happened when I was stopped and restarted on the traffic light intersection.

On the recall notice from Honda: "If you paid out of pocket to have these specific recall repairs performed to your vehicle you may be eligible for reimbursement; please contact American Honda's Customer support & campaign center at 1-888-234-2138..."

You definitely have a legitimate legal claim to compensation. You should reach out to Honda. Gather all of your documentation from the repair.

My local dealer said there was an updated memo that said only A/T models were covered. Well, I called North American Honda to check. Yes, my M/T 2010 Fit is covered by the recall. I will be talking to my dealer shortly.

Anyone else being told they have to go two separate times, first for inspection, then to come back for the repair? Seems like Honda really likes to waste their customer's time.

Compensation?

I had both front axles replaced a couple of years ago after one of them snapped.
Dealer contacted me about the recall, and I mentioned this. They just replied, "Thanks". and that was it.
I've heard of people getting reimbursement for previous recall related repairs. Anyone go through this? Do I need to go back to the dealer or somewhere else?

Edit: Thanks wlfit. Somehow missed your post and will follow up on that.

Gd3 not included?

I keep checking the site with my vin and it keeps coming back as 0 recalls.

Bought my 08 fit last year and it has been registered in 3 different salt belt states named in the press release. But apparently my poor rusty axles arent covered. Anyone else have a similar issue with theirs not coming up as covered?

Maybe something to do with the fact that I'm the 4th owner? Kind of a bummer but I guess I'll just replace them myself with aftermarket axles. Would have been cool to get free oems, though.

It doesn't matter which owner you are (4th or 100th), a recall applies to the vehicle regardless. It doesn't come up on the owners site for me either, but I suspect there's a delay for manual transmission vehicles.
