Rear Hatch Lock Sticking

My rear hatch lock is "sticking". Sometimes, unlocking unlocks the hatch, sometimes not. I figure it needs to be lubed maybe. Anyone else ever have this issue? Any points on how to do this (photos would be nice).

Thanks

It's your hatch mechanism rusting and getting fouled up. New ones are maybe $20-30 on Amazon or rock auto, doesn't take much to install.

Thanks for the video. If I opened it up and took old one out, would I be able to clean the rust off, lube and reuse?

Definitely. As long as it is not so rusted out that it won't function or the spring isn't broken. I think the reason most just replace is that it is a $20 part versus taking it apart, not being able to fix it, then having to wait to get a new part.

I just noticed on mine this afternoon. That down at the bumper end, the latch has screws that should be able to used to adjust the positioning of the catch. Which I've had to do on a previous car.
