Death Wobble!?!? Is My Rack Smoked? Videos Attached.

This all started one day when I noticed a clunk when aggressively breaking at highway speeds. I jacked the car up and inspected but at the time the problem was so minor it was hard to pinpoint. We’ll after a recent 1600 mile trip it developed a shimmy over 70 and on a couple of occasions I got some wicked death wobble after hitting potholes at highway speeds.

If the links don’t work I’ll post another way. File was too large.

I'd go for one of the first two on the list. Take it into a suspension shop for a definitive answer.

Thanks…

Thanks for the quick reply folks. I guess I should have given some more info about myself. I’m fully aware of all suspension components and the role they play. I’ve check control arms, tie rod ends, ball joint/ lca’s and all seem in “working” order. What I’m really looking for is for someone who has experienced a steering rack go bad, maybe not in the Fit, that can watch my video and tell me if what I’m seeing is indeed a Rack Failure. I fully plan on doing the work myself. In all honesty i plan on installing all new suspension components because shocks need replacing so if it’s coming apart I’ll be damned if it’s going back together stock. If someone could let me know if the links above work for them I’d appreciate it as well. Thanks for the help. Grateful for this community….

Links work but it's a tough call. I'd say maybe inner tie rods. Honda EPS racks have seemed to be pretty reliable over the years, but I'd avoid the confirmation bias logic at attempt here and just undo the rods from the knuckles and take a look to see what the issue is. Lots of money is spent on confirmation bias, lots of unnecessary money... Good luck, shouldn't be a hard one to figure out.

I'm not an experienced mechanic type guy, but could the problem be your inner tie rod ends?

Tie rod ends/joints - seem like popping here
Or
Something inside the steering rack

Did a quick lookup on a used steering rack with tie rods on eBay, it is only $152.77 before tax, shipped. I would just picked a used set and replace the whole thing. Here is listing for one with only 2.5k miles on it from year 2020.Fit.

Good luck.
