Coat it or not??

Hi. Have just completed negotiations to get me a new Fit . All was well until I was finishing up with the finance chick. She starts in on getting 4 different coatings/treatments done! Can either pay $295 each, or get all for $900. They are: Fabric Protection, Paint Protection, Undercoat Protection and Rust Protection
Has anybody had these applied? Is it worth the extra $?
I'm a bit choked that these weren't mentioned at all during my talks with the salesman and was shocked to hear it at the last minute. I've budgeted pretty much all I can at the moment, but am worried that not doing them will cause me grief.

Gotta admit, after this little trick I'm starting to wonder if they're the right dealership for me. Was recommended by husbands buddy at work...
Thanks for any info/advice,
Fitless (so far...)

hello...conrats on ur fit...well if i remember correctly i got 2 out of the 4 protections. it was the undercoat n the paint protection, dont remember how much it was. the only advice i can give is that u can do the fabric protection by yourself, just go to canadian tire n buy about 2 cans of the scotchguard n spray it on the all the seats n floormats, the detailer guy at honda told me to do it this way instead of being ripped off by the dealer .

personally i would get undercoating and rust only, the rest you can do yourself.

I got the under coat and the paint as well. I did not get the rust and did not get the fabric. Reasons being:
-under coat reduces road and hwy noise
-I'm too lazy to be waxing my car all the time.
-no rust, while it is salty and wet in vancouver I dont plan on having the car nearly long enough for it to start rusting.
-no fabric because a couple cans of scotch gaurd at the store will cost you $20 and works just as well if not better cuz you can apply it yourself (not the 16 year old work exp kid in the shop that does it.

i didn't even had a choice. the entire protection package (package "A") was already "installed". and it was either take it or leave it. but they gave me more then i hoped for the trade so i took it... oh well, i plan on keepimg it for at least 10 years so maybe it is not that bad of idea.

since you said you were surprised when she approached you with that question it seems to me that you were completley unprepared for the process. finance - thats where 60% of the ripoff process is taking place. maybe it is too late but this is still very good read (IMO MUST read) before buying car Canadian Car Prices, Buying Tips, Car Dealer Scams, Canadian Dealer Cost

i wouldn't have done any coatings if it was my choice. but then since i already have'em maybe it is a good idea... it is up to you.
