How do you feel about the Honda ValuGard Offerings?

The moment we had finalized the deal on my wife's Fit Sport, they immediately tried to sell us the following:

- Rust Inhibitor - NOT undercoating, but spraying in the doors and what not. ($399 CDN)

- Paint Sealant - Lasts 3 years, prevents fading, gives the car that always "waxed" look. ($199 CDN)

- Fabric Protector - Scotchguard? ($129 CDN)

To this point we haven't signed on for any of these extra services, but we may change our mind prior to deliver. The only one I'd consider is the Paint Sealant. I doubt my wife will have the car for 5+ years so I doubt the Rust Inhibitor is really necessary.

How do you folks feel about these offerings? I'm guessing they make a lot of money on each of these services and that's why they sell them so hard.

Is far as I have heard, all of these things are rubbish. I hope so...I'd like to think that a brand new car wouldn't need these things. I have definately heard that the paint sealant is silly due to the fact that paint technology is better now and that this is completely unnecessary. I'd like to hear what a dealer insider thinks!

Seems all kinds of unnecessary. All of them. Buy a $5 can of scotchguard and stainproof your upholstery yourself.

Thumbs down Rip Offs!

These are all TOTAL SCAMS. Be very wary of any dealer that tries to talk you into this stuff; it's only an indication of their greediness now and probably when you take the car to them for repairs.

It all BS. Don't buy that crap, unless you feel like getting ripped off.
