Hatch actuator repair advice
Hatch actuator repair advice
My mother has a 2014 Honda Fit which I have found is apparently the black sheep in the line .
She needs to replace the actuator in the rear hatch but the dealership is quoting 300+ for the part. No cars in the auto salvage to get one off of.
Any other hacks to get it fixed?
Thanks

If you haven't already done it, I would start by pulling out the actuator to determine if something is visibly wrong. Maybe it's just stuck with rust or dirt. Maybe something got jammed in the mechanism. Maybe the electrical connection popped loose.
It's easy to remove the plastic interior of the rear hatch and once you get that off you should have access to both the inner and outer portions of the actuator.
I follow the K.I.S.S. model. If something is supposed to cost hundreds/thousands of dollars to fix, it's worth 30 minutes of my time to confirm that there is really a serious problem that I can't fix myself.
