Need more info:
How long has she had the car- know the history of it?
Any work been done to the car recently?
Can you further describe what you mean by strong electrical smell? Something hot or something burning/ smoke?
Is the smell strongest inside the car or outside the car when you open the hood?
Is the car in an area where varmints can nest and/ or chew on the wiring?

Probably just build up of different dirt, dust and grime in the ac vents. It's possible the blower fan for the AC unit has worn out the brushes on the motor and is causing the smell, but i took an original one off of a 250,000 mile fit in California where AC is used 24/7 and it was less than halfway worn through the brushes. Just get a can of kool-it ac cleaner and put it through the ac drain (plenty of videos online on how to do it) and clean the vents too and the smell will most likely go away. Otherwise it's probably something aftermarket or added to the car, most of the wiring and electrical is done pretty well on the fit and they rarely have any electrical issues. Good luck, and reply if anything changes or doesn't.
