Fit Sport 2007 idle speed check?
Fit Sport 2007 idle speed check?
Hello,
This winter on colder days, our Fit would want to stall over the first couple of miles until the engine had warmed up. During that initial start up time, I would need to use the gas peddle whenever I came to traffic light, After a couple of miles however, it would be fine. I checked the manual and found in the maintenance section this note: "Inspect idle speed every 160,000miles." Our Fit has a 157,500 miles on the odometer.
When I called our Honda dealer they said that they could tell nothing about it, that it would have to come in for a diagnosis. Does anyone know what that note from the manual is referring to?
Thanks much for whatever thoughts or suggestions you might have about next steps...

Unfortunately, the manual refers to checking done with the HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) software. This is to say; is meant for dealers, shops who have it, or if somenone is willing to spend tne money adquiring the software. Real one is expensive, and there are some cheap copies from China of doubtfull quality.
The Engine Control Module gets signals from different sensors to control Idle, and is difficult determinining which is at fault w/out the software......It could be something like throttly body too dirty, bad coils, bad spark plugs, or else....It also depends on what kind of regular maintenance, and part replacements, the car had over all these miles.,............I'd start by connecting a ODB scanner to the port under the dash, and see if it showing a fault code to give a clue. At least this would be a start.
