How to remove blower motor housing to access evaporator core and expansion valve?
Trying to fix the A/C, but having difficulty getting the blower motor housing assembly removed. This repair manual mentions removing the brackets, but the brackets are not removable. They're part of the assembly. The Honda repair manual that I have a PDF of just says to pull it out. But they magically don't have a piece in the way that isn't removable.
I just went through this about a month ago. You can remove the middle portion of the metal bar and then pull really hard on the plastic and squeeze out the air box. It is possible. I did somehow manage to break the tab off on the recirculation flapper when reinstalling. But you don't have to cut if you don't want to.
But there is bolts under there to remove just the center of the metal bar. Then the plastic is fairly flexible
@Mister Coffee - Thanks! I could not find that in mine. I did not end up going that route, however. Instead, I removed the lower blower housing by taking out the 6 screws that holds it together. Would it just go back together without replacing that piece then?
@cbuck77 - Are you saying it is possible to remove the piece that is being cut in the instructions above?
My issue still isn't fixed after all this. Yippee.
You aren't able to remove it but when I removed my blower assembly - I did not cut the plastic piece. You have to pull really hard on it to get the blower assembly under it but it is possible. Honestly may be easier to just cut it, I was scared I needed the plastic for some reason. In reality the glove box is bolting to that metal plate behind it so I guess that is why they recommend to cut it.
