Starter Button Problem
Starter Button Problem
The starter button problem is getting worse on my 2015 EX. It took about five attempts both to start the car and then to stop it.
I'm looking for suggestions for buying a new button. I see them listed for $30 - $150. I know that cleaning is a possibility, but I don't want to be cleaning it every six months.
Unfortunately, the 2015 requires major disassembly to get at the button, so I don't want to do it more than once.
All ideas appreciated!

I ordered a new Honda button from eBay - $44. I'm taking a 300 mile round-trip on Thursday. I hope I get home.
Start Button Fix.
Get your start button fixed first before your road trip.
See if your local Honda Dealer will fix your start button for free.
Nothing can be done before Thursday, and that's when I'm leaving. I could use my son's Fit instead, but I don't like driving someone else's car. Today, it started at the first press - twice. Once, it needed two presses to shut off the engine.
Push Start Button To Key.
Not worth the time and hassle if it were possible.
I had my push button start replaced.
Since then my Fit starts and stops on one push.
Just check with your local Honda Dealer to see if the free push button start fix is still available before you fix it on your own.

Multiple Push Starts And Stops.
It will take 2, 3, 4 and more times you have to push the start button to start and turn off your Fit.
It happened to me.
Then I went to my local Honda Dealer to fix this.
To my surprise my Honda Dealer told me they've had this problem with Fits and other Honda cars. Then the service tech told me this fix is Free.
The Dealer tech replaced my push start button in about one hour.
Since then my push start button starts my Fit on the first push.
And turns off on the first push.
Got mine replaced at my local dealer 2 years ago for free.
Symptom was not multiple presses to shut off or start the car. The car would start, but would then shut off after 1 or 2 seconds of engine running. Thought it was MAF sensor but it was not, found out it was the start button all along with an error message on the dash finally showing up.

I drove about three hundred miles yesterday with several stops. Multiple presses to start and stop, but I was able to drive home.
Push Start Fix.
Just go to your local Honda Dealer to see if this fix is free.
There was no mention to me at my local Honda Dealer of any time limit for this fix.
If the free fix time has passed,
Put your big boy pants on and open your wallet,
Go to your local Honda Dealer to get this fixed.

Know What You're Doing.
Unlike Dumb and Dumber trying to fix the VTC Actuator. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's not even a hard replacement. There are many youtube videos on this. It's a free country, you can spend money to get it done or do it yourself, there is no need to lambast someone's effort to do it himself.
One Lambast Deserves Another.
I'm going to Lambast them back.
Never heard the word Lambast.
I like it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
