nine weeks since my car broke down

Hi all

It has now been 9 weeks since my car broke down (power steering stopped functioning). Has anybody had a car that has been "sick" for such a long time? I have no idea what the dealer is doing, but I am a bit angry.
First they told me it was the mechanical pump that controlled the power steering, then it was the electronic box that controlled the power steering. No they say they think it some kind of electrical problem. Any opinions?

Speaking as the owner of a USDM Fit, there is no pump in the power steering- it is all electrical. I assume that this is also true for European models.

yes. the Fit has EPS....electronic power steering. there is no fluid, therefore no need for a pump or anything that relates fluid type power steering systems.

i have no idea what would need 9 weeks to repair if its an electrical issue. order new EPS unit (located near the crank/belt side of motor) and replace it to see if it works then! i hate dealers sometimes. good luck.

People/consumers in Scandinavia are too nice. Go over to the dealer and bitch at them!

I dont know anything about cars, but they first tryed to change the "tannstaget" (norwegian name), then they tried to change the electronic box and now I think they are checking the the voltage on the wires or they are just ignoring my car
I have a rental car from avis that Honda pays for, so I guess they are the one that lose money on the car. I am currently driving a C1-citroen, easy to parallel park, but its not really a car, is it?

I am not sure, but you must have paid maybe 180K Norway Kroner roughly 30K US dollars? I'd be pretty upset if they still could not fix the car after 3 months = incompentence of a dealer. That almost sounds like you need to pull the lemon law in to get a new Jazz. On the bright side, at least you aren't losing money and have a free rental car (even if it is tiny).

BTW, how come Norway and Sweden still use their own currency instead of Euro? You guys are part of the EU right?

I paid 200 K Norwegian kroner, all together with tires, registration and so on. I have tried to get the money back or a new car. They are willing to give me back 179 K Norwegian kroner, but I have decided to not accept the offer. The milage is about 14000 km, and the car is 1.5 year 2005 model. Its an ok offer, but I prefer to keep my car.
Norway is still not part of EU

You should try contacting Honda Corporate and see if they can help you. I would definitely call someone higher up and get this resolved. They can't fix your car forever and you driving a little C1.

I guess since Norway has money there is no need to convert to the euro, just like the UK, but the UK is part of the EU. UK is part of the EU right??? I am getting confused.

I am a noob...sorry. I guess if their currency is worth more than the euro its not worth for them to join the EU.

Congrats to Norway for not bowing to multi-national pressure!

Of course, I also don't think the US should be part of the UN, but hey..that's just me.
