Electronic power steering
Electronic power steering
My Honda Jazz has a problem. The electronic power steering isn't working. Has anybody had this problem? It is now at the garage, its been there three days, and they are still searching for the error.
I JUST PUT MY FIT IN THE DEALERSHIP SHOP TODAY. AFTER A YEAR OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A MINOR PROBLEM, HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. DURING COOL (NOT NECESSARILY COLD) MORNING STARTS, THE ICON ON THE DASH FOR POWER STEERING LIGHTS UP AND THE POWER STEERING IS NOT ON. MOST TIMES I JUST TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN AFTER LETTING IT RUN A MINUTE. THE LAST 2 MORNINGS WERE ABOUT 55-60 DEGREES AND THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WANT TO KICK IN. ITS GOING TO BE A LONG WINTER IF I DONT HAVE IT FIXED. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS ON HERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT CAN BE STEERED BUT WITH MUCH MORE EFFORT. I HOPE THEY CAN REMEDY THE PROBLEM. OR IT COULD RESULT IN A LARGE RECALL ISSUE.
OBDII scan//Electronic Power Steering
Hi all! I am like the rest of you that has had power steering problems when starting the car for the first time each morning. I would start the car, and I on the dash the Steering wheel! symbol would show. This has been happening for 1 year now, on and off... I took the car to the dealership for the second time to complain about this, once again they said they could not do anything for it without being able replicate the problem.
I showed the service manager what symbol would show up, so he took the car to the back to do an ECU Scan (OBDII scan) to see if any codes were stored due to the steering wheel symbol showing up.
He found some stored codes...come to find out my Electronic Power Steering control unit (computer) is going out. They are ordering me a new control unit to be installed early next week.
If you guys are having the same issues, after your steering wheel locks up, drive to your Honda dealership and have them scan your OBDII.
Good luck
Jay
