With gasoline at nearly $5 US a gallon and a top highway speed of 60 MPH, I could see why

Indeed, over 90% of the JDM Fits are 1.3 L (with CVT).
And in 2002 the Fit gained the distinction of becoming the only vehicle in the Japanese market that outsold the Toyota Corolla that had held the No. 1 position (for non-kei car class) for 33 consecutive years prior to that (the Corolla overtook again in 2003 and has been No. 1 since).

They come standard issue on the FIT`s over here in Japan... well except the base model
Hey, I see you are in Yokohama. That's my base in Japan too (I live in St. Paul, MN). I have a house in Sakae-ku, closer to Kamakura than the central Yokohama. Which part are you in?
I thought that those "side visors" were optional on all trim levels in Japan. I am looking at the pictures of everything from 1.3Y to 1.5S on the Honda catalog, and none of them show those visors on the standard configuration photos. Or do I have an old catalog?
The dealer back in 2002 when I bought my FIT... said basically they will give you the window `side visors` for free for buying the car.... but if I didn`t want them they would not install them... pretty much every Fit that I have seen over here has them...
Thanks for clarifying the "side visor" question, by the way. It does seem most every Fit in Japan comes with those visors.
Below is the first Fit that I had ever driven (a rented 1.5W AWD). It must be one of the very few that didn't get the free side visors thrown in!

My feeling exactly. Since I can't get the real thing here, I got the next best thing.

Only $378 yen.
So unfair. How come they have more variety of colors and we have the sames! That pinky one i liked it!
Even though looking around i dun see much black fits around; most of the cars that i've see are brilliant or bright colors
And i mean on the web in pics
