High insurance prices for Fit

I will be taking delivery of my 08 Sport on Friday and stopped by State Farm today to get a rough idea of how much the insurance would be.

Me:
25 yrs old
Perfectly clean record
Live in low crime area

$804 for 6 months! Which is $100 more than my s2000

What do the rest of you pay and what kind of driving record?

Shop around man, State Farm is kinda pricey. I also used to have Allstate (also kinda pricey), but left after they raised my rates for no reason. When I called to ask for specifics, I got the blah blah blah story about rising costs. Told them fine charge the folks getting into accidents, leave my rates alone. I go through 21st Century now. I pay more but then I also have three cars.

i agree yours is really high, maybe you should get some quotes from other insurers. I'm 22 years old and pay $573.90/6 months for comprehensive insurance. need to make a couple of changes though since i'm out of school now so i don't know what the price will be adjusted to yet.

According to my insurance company the fit was cheapest of the other vehicles I own. A 2006 Mercury Milan Premier and 2005 Mazda 3s It costs 617 for 6 mos for a 19 year old female with a clean record in NYC metro area.

I just filled out the online quote and it was $406 for 6 months. Price is damn good, have you ever had to deal with them / make a claim?

Likely, it's high due to the Fit being relatively unsafe due to the Laws of Physics. However, that is a huge ripoff! There is no way a Fit should be more expensive to insure than a S2000.

What I pay isn't going to be relevant since I'm an older woman, but insuring my brand new Fit with the same coverage as I had on my 10-year-old Subaru Impreza is only costing $58 a year more. I expected to have to pay considerably more to insure a new car and have been putting this nice surprise down to the extra safety features in the Fit.

Progressive FTW.

I have 1k/3k/1k full coverage 1000/500 deductible (comp/collis) and pay 95.xx a month. It's even cheaper if you pay quarterly or every 6 months.

..... oh yea, and that's on a SRT-4.
23. no accidents. no tickets.

No I haven't but been with them for 3 years and I researched them first. I think they keep their rates low because they are direct and no brokers. January 2007: The Response Insurance Group beat all of the ten largest auto insurers in New York state according to ratings by the NYS Department of Insurance. The Company, which had an almost perfect record, moved up to number 5 on the annual list, and was also highlighted by the Department as a “Best Performer” for making their “Top 25” List for four consecutive years. With just one upheld complaint, Response beat out GEICO, Allstate, State Farm, Progressive, St. Paul Travelers, Liberty Mutual, White Mountains, Central Services, Metropolitan, and Nationwide in both the number of complaints and the ratio of complaints to company size, based on premium in the state. Among companies with more than $25 million of premium, Response ranked number 2. Response’s complaint ratio was 7-times better than the industry-average in the state.
