hey i don't blame you. When i saw a b16 in a mini cooper a couple months back at the socal meets here, i pooped in my pants! That honda city engine is pretty sweet, but what about a b16 with 160hp? Now that's INSANE. Hey, this car might come from teh same builders that came to the meets also. Check out these bada$$ mini's....

It's far beyond pimp my friend. It's a City Turbo swap with Mugen designed turbo and Del Sol seats. It's a freaking Honda in a Mini skirt!
even if u did live in cali thats still illegal isn't it?? j/w
personally i'd rather have the b16 or even an illustrious k20
lol. VTEC ftw. If u think a fit with a k20 would be fast just wrap ur mind around that in a mini. totally pimp

Don't be hatin!
It stinks to be in Cali with regards to classic minis. I am a member of MOALA (Mini Owners of America Los Angeles) well not right this minute I can't currently make it to the meets because of scheduling problems nor do I have a mini...haahaaa.
Cali law has made it increasingly difficult to own or get classic minis. I think it is much, MUCH easier to get them in any other state. Now it has to be a 1968 or older to make it in (or was that '69? whatever...). No more rolling years for the restrictions....Booooooooooooo!
In fact it has been so bad my friend "the Mini Guy" (he was a classic mini dealer in ventura) had to get out of the biz of selling them here. *frown* You can check him out at Miniguy.com
He could still help you get one on consignment!
You can also try Minimania.com there are lots of links to where you can buy minis...heck there might even be listings in your area (ya neva know)
As for a honda swap...well I really love the classic "A" series engine in the mini, it has a character all its own. I think the club has a few members who did some swaps. They feel silly wicked powerful! But I have been in faster tuned classic minis too.
Anywho sorry for the long post but I have been an uber huge "classic" mini enthusiast for most of my life and therefore could not resist the temptation to geek out when I hear all things "mini"
*big smiles*

I don't like drag racing that much. A k20 fit is off balance and does not handle as well as the original design. Same thing with the Mini. The City Turbo is smaller and lighter than the B16.
It depends on the year and what you have it registered under. There are tons of ways to side step the law or do something outright illegal, but there are almost as many ways to do it properly by just following the specific restrictions. Its much easier to add a new engine into an older car than it is to add an old engine into a newer car (if I remember correctly in terms of legal issues) you are bound by the restrictions of the newest component in Cali.
OIC so if u put in say a b16 you would be bound by rules on the engine not the car. I thought that it was the other way around. I'm not from cali just heard things like that are a pain in the butt. what with all the C.A.R.B. stuff.
:edit: I'm not saying that the city engine is dumb its just that i like the look of the DOHC Vtec engine in there. thanks all

It has more to do with emissions than anything else i believe. But it has been years since I was really privy to such info. But I could only imagine it has become only more strict. (as illustrated in one of my previous posts)
If by the city engine you mean "A series" or "A+series" (turbo or not). And tune that lill motor (possibly with a larger bore) and at 140hp you can throw out 0-60's in 3 secs!!!! (ok fine with a bit of a weight reduction and some stickies...but still...)
Those honda swaps are really cool don't get me wrong (I am up for anything mini related) but you get some HUUUUUUUGE TORQUE STEER on those puppies. Nothing like flaunting your power by accidently changing lanes everytime you shift....haahaaaa....j/k.
Anywho for anyone interested I believe MiniMania.com has a section where they offer 3 different kinds of honda swaps into classic minis.
I would be thrilled with just a 90 bhp 1275 A series mini. Just think 90hp and 1500 lbs......oh yeah! And think that a mini makes our Fits seem like a bloated minivan in the handling department. Haaahaa
*quickly ducks behind desk* hahaaa
but the final reliability of the Honda engine does make it a winning combo I must admit.
ugh...reliability FTW.....i guess...
