Why I'm glad I don't have a Scangauge

....because if I did I would have witnessed in real time what the 50 mph HEADWIND did to my 45 mile commute home!!!

And I was targeting a 500 mile tank with a AT sport no less. I *might* be able to do it. I'll know tomorrow. Light came on at 434 miles. I was hoping for a safe 450 miles before the indicator...but not with that flippin' 100mph (equivilant) drive home!

Funny how I now can get upset by a little wind! If I had the Scangauge I would have been doing 20mph on the shoulder!

You have no idea!! a 10 MPH headwind is a 5-6 MPG hit.

yeah that is pretty lofty. you must never use a/c and hipermile the hell out of your fit, especially if its an auto.

I did a bunch of N-ICE-ON and started doing some FAS where I had at least 30-40 seconds of either coast to light, or simple P&G from 65 to 50. Either way I wouldn't FAS until I had at least that much time to do it.

Didn't use A/C this tank, and tires are at 51. Kept the speed 5 mph below posted (50 in a 55, and 60 in a 65). At 5mph lower than posted I get to work 5-6 minutes later than if I did the SL.

My goal is a 500 mile tank. Thought I had it but with a 50mph headwind (gusts) I sucked the extra 1/2 gal required to make it. I'll post the tank avg's tomorrow, total mileage, gals to fill-up etc.

The real question is if I want 500 bad enough to risk running out. I'll probably end up like Paul and be at 497.90 on the side of the road if I do!

Haha! I am with you on that(no SG) but then there are times when I would like to know if this segment is killing me or hurting me.............ignorance is bliss! Not to mention, I would be like like you, drive 30mph in 5th gear every where and probably end up pushing the car.

The SG is still on my list of things I would like to have but do not need.
