Thanks for that!
They did the math that I've always had a problem a problem with: unless you drive a lot, buying a hybrid just doesn't make sense, financially speaking.
of course of you're part of Green Peace or something I guess it helps you that much more?

A few points...
I disagree with their comment on how the Civic has richer materials inside than the Fit. I feel it's about the same, but the Fit's fit is better, IMO. Yes, the Civic had leather, heated seats, temp gauge, etc. But the Fit in some cases has some richer looking elements, like the main gauges and their lighting.
They once again had the crappy Bridgestone on their tester, which yielded so-so performance numbers.
0-60 in 11.0 seems at least 1.0 sec slower than it should be, but that's typical of Edmund's acceleration methods.
And 32 mpg for the Fit? Also seems sub-par to what we're all getting here.
Any case, the Fit rightfully won.

Great post, thanks... I'm glad I purchased my Fit for $17,700. There is no way in hell I'm spending close to $30k on a hybrid, whether it be a Toyota or a Honda. Just to get 10mpg +/- extra? No thanks. Plus, I think the Fit looks tons better than any other subcompact out there.
We chose the Fit for many of those reasons. As I've become and old man, I've realized that the less you can spend on a car (a depreciating "asset"), the better. The Fit happens to be inexpensive but also fun, practical, etc.
Although we didn't choose one, I'm glad to see hybrids around. They are likely the path to the future of the automobile, whether that be plug in or range extended hybrids or pure EV's. The designs, lessons, and refinements being learned today will lay the foundations for those cars. And depending on where you live, hybrids have some additional advantages: some tax incentives, HOV lane usage, no bridge tolls required, free downtown parking, etc. And being a gadget person, there's the geeky-tech appeal of a hybrid. So I'm happy with the Fit but would also consider the right hybrid.
