Hi all. First day in the fourm and it seems great. I test drove a Fit today and love it except for one thing. The radio is not great. I spend a ton of time in the car every day and need a very good stereo. Looking at the dash, it seems unlikely that an aftermarket system would work. Any advice from the people who know would be great. Sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search and couldn't find much on the subject. Thanks a bunch.

yes you can fit a stereo, but you need the OEM navigation dash panel (you can get that from the dealership. Then, you might have to rig up something to hold the stereo in place. as far as i know, no one makes a bracket for it yet. Some of the GE owners might be able to help you with that.

i would definitely recommend the OEM panel over a Metra or Schosche. The fitment will be WAYYYYY better.

 

Yes. The part you need to make it possible just became available in the last couple weeks. It is the Metra 99-7877S. This will adapt the area where the factory radio is installed to a standard size (single DIN, double DIN, or ISO). Right now you can order them on ebay, and maybe some other sites. Not aware of any brick and mortar stores carrying them yet. As the previous poster said, check out the FIT-ICE section for more info and to see what others are doing.

I just installed a double DIN Pioneer nav system in my 09 Fit last week.

 

Even though the panel there has decent fitment, I'd still recommend the one made by Honda. Since it's made by Honda for Honda, it's basically guaranteed to fit well and match the color perfectly.

I have a Metra kit in my GD3, and while it's decent, I still wish there was one made by honda.

 

I have the oem navi panel and brackets. Everything works great. I also got the honda pilot trim kit, and it fits OK. It doesn't snap on to anything - it's float there - but it does the job.
